Microsoft released the New Xbox Experience last week and we wanted to ask our readers how the Netflix video streaming performance has been for you at home. Netflix's Instant Watch FAQ recommends 700kb/s for basic video and 2.4 Mb/s for DVD quality video.

My cable Internet service is rated at 4Mb/s, but it's come in as high as 12Mb/s in online speed tests. I caught up on Heroes on Monday night and the HD stream worked perfectly at the initial launch. However, the service stopped and downgraded the video half-way through one of the episodes when my roommate started a large download. We're going to modify the quality of service settings on the router to set Xbox traffic at a higher priority. The other option will be to try out port forwarding.

It looks like my cable connection is large enough to handle the HD streams, but our news man Tor Thorsen tells me that the service is practically unwatchable on his 1.5Mb/sDSL line at home.

Leave a comment if you've had any problems with Netflix streaming on NXE and what you've done to fix it.
