How to Play Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 Five Days Early

EA's wacky team-based shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 isn't scheduled to officially arrive until February 23, but some Xbox One and PC users can start playing it right now. The PopCap-developed sequel arrives today, February 18, through EA Access on Xbox One and Origin Access for PC.

Players can download the full version of Garden Warfare 2, but play time is limited to ten hours. Note that the clock only counts down when the game is open, so it's advised that you close it when not playing.

You can check out the new 24-player Herbal Assault mode and the four-player Graveyard Ops mode, while all the new character classes are also available. All of your progress in the EA/Origin Access version of Garden Warfare 2 will carry forward if you decide to purchase the game when it launches.

Additionally, EA Access members will save 10 percent, meaning they can get Garden Warfare 2 for $54 instead of $60.

In addition to getting to play EA games five days early and the aforementioned 10 percent discount on games and content, EA/Origin Access members can play more than a dozen free games via The Vault.

EA Access launched for Xbox One in August 2014, with the PC version debuting in January 2016. For its part, Sony has said EA Access does not represent a good enough value for PS4 owners, though the company subsequently stated that it is open to working with EA on a solution.

Garden Warfare 2 is a sequel to 2014's Garden Warfare. Whereas the first game was available for current-and last-generation consoles and PC, the sequel is leaving Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 behind.
