The real estate bubble may have burst, but that isn't stopping Sega from investing in The House of the Dead. The publisher today announced that it would be releasing The House of the Dead 3 and The House of the Dead 4 as downloadable titles for the PlayStation 3 early this year.

The first of the two lightgun shooters will arrive February 7 on the PlayStation Network, with the previously arcade-exclusive House of the Dead 4 following in the spring. Both games will feature PlayStation Move support, as well as updated high-definition graphics and trophy support.

While this will be the first time the 2006 arcade game House of the Dead 4 has found its way to consoles, The House of the Dead 3 has been ambling onto new platforms for years. After debuting in arcades in 2002, the game lumbered to the original Xbox later that year, shambled to the PC in 2005, and staggered to the Wii in 2008 as part of the combo package The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return.

The franchise made its PlayStation platform debut last year with a high-definition, 3D-compatible port of the 2009 Wii lightgun shooter The House of the Dead: Overkill.
