Hotline Miami now free for US PlayStation Plus subscribers

Top-down action game now free for subscribers in the United States; "Sale of the Dead" offers discounts on The Last of Us, Dead Island Riptide

Dennaton's top-down action game Hotline Miami is now free for PlayStation Plus subscribers in the United States, Sony has announced. The game normally sells for $10.

Hotline Miami is a Cross-Buy title, allowing consumers to pay once for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game.

Hotline Miami was released on the PlayStation Network earlier this year, following its original release for PC in 2012. The game is set in 1989 Miami and has players laying waste to enemies in various stages while donning animal masks. A sequel is in development.

Sony is also holding a "Sale of the Dead" now that features discounts on The Last of Us ($36 for PS Plus subscribers, $46 for all), Dead Island Riptide ($20 for PS Plus subscribers, $25 for all), and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection ($14 for PS Plus subscribers, $20 for all), among others.

A full list of new PlayStation Store content and deals is available on the PlayStation Blog.

Just picked up TLoU and Dead Island GOTY for about $40. Hell of a sale, Sony!

Typical. I just paid £3.00 for it! But I don't mind. Anybody else think it's rock hard? I can't get past the boss that chases you around in level 3? Or 4?

When I say HQ I mean visuals comparable to Battlefield 4 for example. But yeah I agree and get what you mean, John.

I'd say they are high quality. It takes lot of skill to stylize a game like this without it looking amateurish.

This game proves that high quality graphics means nothing when it comes to a solid game. Even in 2013. Loved Hotline Miami, every PS+ Member should get it. Heck even if you're not subscribed buy it anyway, it's amazing.

NA PS+ is great, but it's total shit compared to the EU version.

And is anyone else not seeing Hotline Miami or the discounts yet?

Sweet, been wanting to play this. I would like to see some AAA titles again though.

$36.00 for TLoU?! Woa!

How is it that Europe gets 3 big titles and America gets an indie game? Don't get me wrong, Hotline Miami is awesome (I went to comic-con as Richard), but...what the hell?!

Is that why Sony is embracing indies? So they can offer them for free instead of old AAA games?

Sony always getting the PC's sloppy seconds tsk tsk.

Argh! How awesome would it be, if they gave us some of their exclusives like God of War or Heavy Rain (I already own the 2nd one, but I want more people to enjoy that masterpiece) ....I'd also love to play Call of Duty 3, because I really loved Call of Duty 2, but after 7 years, I can't seem to find it anywhere in my country :/

The more people that get to experience this game, the better. :)

I loved hotline miami on the PC. Now I will play it on the PS3 and then the vita. Surely this much violence across different platforms is good for the heart.

@dipdish You guys across the pond get some really nice titles. MGS Rising! I have no complaints though, I am more than happy with the games I have received in the US.

@WantYouBad You'll find SCEA offer the indie titles. SCEE Europe offer AAA. October EU got Dragon's Dogma and Far Cry 3 whereas November EU gets Metal Gear Rising and Remember Me. Not sure about Japan/Asia

@berserks No he is right. All this being patient is useless.

@iamllamapie @WantYouBad So Sony gives 0 fucks about America, like we've been saying, but yay lets worship them. And yes I realize the publishers decide, not Sony.

@Grenadeh I think it's because in America they always talk about the indie scene nonstop whereas Europe doesn't really complain and you hear next to nothing from Asia
