Hotline Miami hitting PS3, PS Vita next week

Top-down action game coming to Sony platforms next week for $10 as Cross-Buy game.

by

Hotline Miami will arrive on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on June 25, Sony announced today. The game will launch as a Cross-Buy title, allowing users to play the top-down action game on both platforms with one purchase.

The PlayStation versions of Hotline Miami include an "exclusive" new mask--Russel the raging bull--which was designed by Abstraction and Dennaton Games. When equipped, the mask will turn the entire game black and white except for the neon text and trail of blood players leave behind.

The mask is said to give Hotline Miami a classic film look.

Hotline Miami for PS3 and PS Vita also features upgrades like leaderboards for every level of the game, Trophies, and touch support for the portable version.

Hotline Miami for the PC sold more than 300,000 units and was pirated at "extraordinary levels." A sequel is in development.

Hotline Miami soundtrack is one of those rare instances where i want to buy the soundtrack CD of the game. Seriously not only the gameplay is addictive the music also really helps with the gameplay.

by the way, if you like hotline miami's atmosphere you might enjoy Dreamweb, an old PC/Amiga top-down adventure.

If I want to play 8 bit games, I'll just use an emulator on my Vita.

I already have it on Steam, but I think I'll buy it just for the chance to play it on the Vita's twin-sticks.

if you have PS3/Vita and didn't play it on PC yet, this is your chance.

Started playing this last night. At first I was skeptical, but after about ten minutes you're hooked. Reminds me of Super Meat Boy in that way.

This was without a doubt my personal GOTY for 2012. I hope more people will give it a chance now. There's also a rumor that the sequel will get released on pc and Vita at the same time.

@HomieHesAKlown

You probably wouldn't appreciate it anyway consolite.

@HomieHesAKlown Dude... this game is awesome. The art style may be 8-bit, but it runs at 60fps, controls with two sticks and sure as hell would not have been possible on an 8-bit system.

@DrKill09 It's the opposite for me. I tried to play it during lunch at work and the mouse and keyboard controls were very annoying to me, like you would turn around if you ran pass the cursor, so I just played the game at home with a game pad.

I actually played the whole thing on a PS3 pad - what you lose in accuracy of aim is made up for by the ease of direction changes.

You know who else called themselves the master race... Nazis... So keep it up, you all sound super smart and cool.

@WantYouBad The PC often gets AAA games late, such as Dark Souls, GTA4 and such. GTA5 is not even announced for PC yet.

@WantYouBad The PC master race has indie titles but the console peasants have GTA V, TLOU, Forza, GT, Halo, Uncharted, KIllzone, The Division, who's the real peasant now?

sephsplace

@fakharakhtar362 i would cry.... but the only one worth getting (for me anyway) is gta v.... all other gta games have come out on PC.... I have no doubt that a pc version will be eventually released
