Hotline Miami 2 confirmed

Game creator Jonatan Söderström says original intention for DLC shifted into a fully-fledged sequel to hit indie title; says the studio is still working on "fixing" Hotline Miami.

Hotline Miami creator Jonatan Söderström has revealed there will be a sequel to the hit indie title.

The developer took to Twitter this week to tell fans that a preliminary Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack was in the works.

"Working while listening to the sweet tunes of a preliminary Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack that we've put together during the weekend," Söderström said.

The comments were later clarified in a Eurogamer article, in which Söderström revealed the planned DLC for Hotline Miami eventually turned into a fully-fledged game, which the studio plans to reveal as Hotline Miami 2 rather than DLC for the first game.

However, Söderström later Tweeted that the team only has some "general plans" for the next game and that their main priority remains "fixing Hotline Miami".

Can somebody PLEASE point me to where I can find this patch so that I can use a controller? I have looked everywhere online, and I can't find anything close to a download for it.

Does anybody know where I can go to get this patch?

Please!

Thanx in advance

Holy shit! This is too cool. I still love the first Hotline Miami. The GOG version (DRM-free, yes!) is pretty tight.

How about updating to 16 bit graphics? High quality 2d graphics can still sell it does not have to be old school 8 bit to be retro.

tbh a sequel sounds somehow lame....i thought the devs are more...hmm..visionary? not sure if its the right word...to pursue something new or "old" :P

A lot of people these days just don't realize what makes a great game. Graphics don't make a game. Gameplay, story and excitement make a game for me.

People now a days play a game, Call of Duty for example, to kill people, get mad after being killed and throw controllers at the floor. You kids make sick. Do us all a favor please. If you cant enjoy a game, turn it off, go outside, and never play again.

Some people might be upset that the dlc has shifted into a new title I guess.

But great news it is :)

As long as M O O N and Jasper Byrne are in on the soundtrack

I really like this game...but not having an option to switch to a controller really, REALLY sucks. The game is cool, but playing a game that moves THIS FAST on a keyboard is NOT a good idea, so I hope part of these so-called "fixes" is adding a  gamepad option.

My friend loves this game, I am eager to get a deal on it. I know I missed a Steam sale, but damn I have too many games in my backlog!!!

Still, my goal is to buy and finish the first game before Jonatan Söderström has time to craft the sequel! lol.

@Merciless704 If you bought it on Steam, then the game should be automatically updated.

@ilantis I have the game on Steam and have no issues with frame rate or playability. There is screen tearing from time to time but it doesn't hinder play.

What are the specs of your computer? It may be an issue with just you.

Unplayable? I don't know about the Steam version, but, the GOG version is fully patched. It even has 360/Xinput (Logitech F series) gamepad support.

But I do agree with you about the soundtrack. It's freaking amazing.

But we're talking about graphics man. What are we talking about? Graphics? We're talking about Graphics, man. We're talking about Graphics. We're talking about Graphics. We aint talking about the game. We're talking about Graphics, man. When you come to the PC Arena , and you see me play, you see me play don't you? You've seen me give everything I've got, right? But we're talking about Graphics right now. We talking about Gra....

You must have been born like 10 years ago....

It's good to see that retro looking games are still being developed. All you kids worry about now a days are Graphics and Call of Duty. For the love of Real Gaming, shut up.

Setho10

@doraemonllh1989 Surely you are being sarcastic right? The graphics are supposed to look that way. You know, channeling the late 80's setting of the game and all? It may not be a technical marvel, but the style is great and the animation is actually really impressive for such a small team.

@doraemonllh1989 The problem right here. Awesome games go overlooked because they don't have AAA budgets. Your loss.

Tyralyon

@doraemonllh1989 That couldn't possible be intended, could it?

A lot of indie games go for the retro look... Gameplay is king.

@Merciless704 I can't imagine playing this game without a mouse for quick aiming.

I tried that....I got version 1.1.0.6 from them. That's all.

Not even sure what that means, but there's nothing from the source about a patch, unfortunately.

Toysoldier34

@Merciless704  @jessica73 What happens if you try to redownload the game from the place you originally got it? I imagine it would be the most up to date version they have.

Okay, I looked and there is no option to configure controller settings. I really need this patch everybody is talking about, but I can't find it online anywhere. Can anybody help?

Toysoldier34
Toysoldier34

@Merciless704  @jessica73 Unfortunately I don't know where to get the patch since Steam patched it for me.

You should try using Steam, I love it. It is very simple too. With the client downloaded any game you buy through the client or website get added to your account. While in the client there is a library section where you can see all the games you own. There are also a few games that require Steam and you can add product keys to Steam also. They have great sales all the time. Then and GreenManGaming have the two best sales of any store I know, and most of GMG's games redeem on Steam anyways.

Steam is easy to use since it downloads and patches and installs your games for you all from the client.

 @Toysoldier34  @jessica73

No, unfortunately it's not from Steam. I have never had a game from there. Mainly because I don't know how to use it, so I never bother with it.

Is there a link to the patch that you know of?

Toysoldier34
Toysoldier34

@Merciless704  @jessica73 Do you have the game from Steam? If so go into your options and make sure the game is set to automatically update. I set all my games to that so I never had to do anything to get it working, it was just there.

Okay, I've been searching like crazy, but I can't seem to find where to get this patch you're all talking about. All I found was a link for updating XBox controller drivers.

Can someone give me a link to actual patch?

Thanx in advance.

Merciless704
Merciless704

 @jessica73  @Toysoldier34

Yeah, I definitely had that option when I played the game...I'll re-install it tonight to see if I can use XInput to emulate the controller and give an update.

But for me, using a mouse and keyboard is really hard, because turning and aiming in time is always a problem. I always got my head blown off...lol

Toysoldier34
Toysoldier34

@Merciless704  @jessica73 When I said it I knew they were adding it but wasn't 100% sure. After you asked though I just got on and checked and I was able to play with my PS3 controller.

In options turn on gamepad, like the other guy says if you aren't seeing this then you may need to update the game for latest patch. But I can confirm it is in the game I played it with a controller seconds ago.

I am using motionjoy DS3 Tool that emulates a 360 controller with my PS3 controller.

Overall the controls were fine with controller. I would prefer the attack and pickup buttons not on the triggers but on the bumpers or R1L1. On the triggers it doesn't feel responsive enough and there were times I threw a weapon while trying to pick it up because it registered me pressing it 2 times while it was pressed. It is easier to keep your aim though since with the mouse it can get lost in commotion, but I still prefer using the mouse and keyboard myself, I feel I do much better but would probably be similar if I got used to the controller a bit more.

@Merciless704  @Toysoldier34  Options>press enter on 360 Pad and arrow to yes. If it's not there, check that you have updates enabled, you might have just not gotten the patch. I don't know if it works with other controllers natively, but xpadder/joy2key will make anything else work
