Hordes of the Underdark ships

Stores will soon see BioWare's latest addition to the Neverwinter Nights franchise.

Neverwinter Nights fans who've slain all the monsters in the game's first expansion pack, Shadows of Undrentide, can strap on their swords again, now that Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark has shipped to stores.

While the first two Neverwinter Nights feature dungeons aplenty, Hordes of the Underdark takes gamers deeper underground into the realm of the Dark Elves. Developed by BioWare and published by Atari, the all-new, 20-hour single player campaign is intended for extremely experienced Epic-level characters (i.e., ones who can take their lumps while casting their spells).

The expansion pack also features new prestige classes, feats, skills, spells, and creatures, not to mention the Neverwinter Nights Aurora Toolset for the modding crowd. To unearth more secrets about Hordes of the Underdark, dig into GameSpot's preview.

Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark is rated 'T' for Teen and retails for $29.99. It requires the original Neverwinter Nights to play.
