Honkai Impact 3rd's second chapter is on its way. HoYoverse just revealed its first look at Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2, a new story that continues from where Honkai Impact 3rd (Part 1) left off.

Despite the name, Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 players don't need any prior knowledge of the series to enjoy it. Part 2 stars a brand-new cast on an entirely different planet: Mars. As per the trailer, the settings could vary between vast Dune-like deserts and bustling commercial streets. Overall, Mars gives off a futuristic impression similar to that seen in Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail.

In addition to the new story, characters, and world, Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 also introduces an improved combat system with more intelligent monsters that can react to your movements. Characters will be able to jump freely in a way they weren't able to in Honkai Impact 3rd and take advantage of a new mechanic called the Astral Ring.

"When unleashed, [Astral Ring] enables the simultaneous burst skills of multiple characters, casts splendid visual effects, and also grants an easier and more direct option to achieve burst damage," reads the press release.

Honkai Impact 3rd is set in a world corrupted by Honkai, a substance similar to miasma or radioactive energy. Honkai can turn people into zombies and create dangerous Honkai Beasts, making it a threat to life itself. Valkyries, girls born with anti-Honkai genes, are the world's only hope of overcoming this destructive force.

HoYoverse already made it clear that the first Honkai Impact 3rd was just part one of a larger story. Honkai Impact 3rd entered Version Kiana, its last chapter, this past February. Honkai Impact 3rd has 35 chapters total. It's unclear how Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 ties into the first saga.

Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 is currently scheduled to release in February 2024.
