Hollywood wants Mythica for movie

Talk in the official Mythica forums suggests that Microsoft's upcoming Norse role-playing game might be headed for Hollywood.

Gamers in Microsoft's official Mythica forums are currently talking not only about the upcoming role-playing game, but also about the possibility of a movie based on the game. Intriguingly, the Hollywood chatter in the forums isn't based on idle speculation but is in response to a post from Microsoft's own Chris Lye, who, when responding to a question about the possibility of Mythica franchising, mentioned that a number of "Hollywood types" have already expressed an interest in the game.

"I'm happy to report that we have been approached by a number of Hollywood types to option Mythica," reads Lye's post. "I can't talk too much about it at this point, but we're very excited that Mythica could eventually show up in media outside of video games."

Mythica, which is currently scheduled for release in October next year, is an online role-playing game in which players will assume the role of a fallen Viking hero in search of godhood. For more information on Mythica, check out our previous coverage of the game.
