The Hitman PC beta officially starts today at 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST. This is the same beta that was offered on PlayStation 4 for the past week, letting players try out the game's Prologue. And as was the case with PS4, the only way to guarantee yourself access to the PC beta is to preorder a digital copy of Hitman.

Hitman's PC closed beta comes to an end Monday, February 22, at 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST.

The Prologue is set in a "secret ICA training facility." It documents Agent 47's introduction to the ICA and showcases his first meeting with Diana Burnwood, a handler who in the future will assign him contracts.

There are two "free-form" training hits that players can try during the beta. These are meant to serve as an introduction to Hitman's mechanics and can be replayed.

Hitman is scheduled to launch on March 11 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One as an episodic title (the Prologue is included with the first chapter). A beta test for the Xbox One version of the game has not been announced.

For more on why Square Enix and developer IO Interactive chose episodic as a business model, you can read GameSpot's interview on the subject. Additionally, IO recently discussed and detailed Hitman's real-time "live content."
