Hitman 2 announced for the GameCube

Following the successful release of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin on the PC, PS2, and Xbox earlier this month, Eidos and IO Interactive have today announced that a GameCube version of the game is in development and scheduled for release in spring 2003.

"GameCube owners worldwide are crying out for more mature content and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin fits the bill perfectly," said Mike McGarvey, CEO of Eidos. "The game has taken the world by storm and we are confident that this success will be repeated on the GameCube platform."

In Hitman 2, players assume the role of a genetically engineered assassin who goes by the name of Codename 47. Forced to resume the violent career he's been trying to forget when a Sicilian crime family kidnaps a friend of his, Codename 47 must leave the monastery he calls home and kill or be killed.
