Heroes of the Storm beta sign-ups available today

Gamers can sign up beginning today to play upcoming free-to-play Blizzard MOBA ahead of launch.

Beta sign-ups for Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming free-to-play MOBA Heroes of the Storm will be available beginning today, the developer announced at BlizzCon. Sign-ups do not appear to be available yet, as the game's website only hosts a trailer.

A new trailer for Heroes of the Storm was also shown during the presentation, featuring heroes from Blizzard franchises like StarCraft, Diablo, and World of Warcraft.

Heroes of the Storm was originally known as Blizzard DOTA, before being renamed Blizzard All-Stars. Earlier this week, Blizzard revealed the first key art for Heroes of the Storm.

Hey Eddie, HotS is CLEARLY not a MOBA, didnt you read that report from Blizzard? The whole team levels at once, and the games are shorter and...... and..... BLIZZARD SAID SO

League of Legends is the MOBA. Only free, rewarding, doesn't lie to you, and has millions of millions of players playing it with some of the best sets of characters you could choose from. Then we got Pay to Win DOTA 2, which at the very least you CAN still win with skill alone and a good team to back you up with great tactical additions.

I imagine this game to rip off every nuance of both games and combine it into one and yet not be free and still have you pay microtransactions up the wazoo.

No thanks. DOTA 2 is already awesome and still being finely tuned. New characters coming out and LoL isn't going anywhere anytime soon that's for damn sure.

If it wasn't for Blizzard, I'd never be interested for a MOBA.

saw game play..... looks like shit, its like starcraft meets warcraft in a bad way....

blizzard have clearly lost touch with reality, I will be too busy playing Dota 2 which is free and clearly superior to this.... thing... in every way and form

Oh boy......another carbon copy MOBA. Yea......  I'm so excited to be eternally annoyed by the various fanboy factions spitting at each other about why their game that is exactly the same as the other is so much better.

I really want to play Heroes of the Storm (Hots, but not SC2: Hots)... yeah blizzard... .. well w/e.

Sadly Blizzard has been on a path of the quick buck, they make nice looking games and decent gameplay but end up really dry. I'm just expecting HOTS to be a mega money milking game, $5 for character item(weapons, boots, pant, etc!) and $15 for a skin!. Oh did you wanna play that game mode?, that costs $3 a per game!, Oh did you want to make a team?, that will cost $10. Oh did you want to play ranked games, that costs $30 to enter the season. And it will likely have you playing hearth stone to get items: using blizzard dollars to buy packs adds a chance for an addition card to be a HOTS character item or even skin!... OHhh how about making ppl play arena to get them.

And so Blizzard continues it's reign of ripping off better games and developers....

@telaros LOL Fanboy... Dota is not pay to win,is a free game. You can buy only cosmetics

@telaros How is Dota 2 Pay to Win??? The only things you can purchase are cosmetic.

@Vexov Why do you feel they've been milking the consumer?  Where has Blizzard forced anyone to spend money on every piece of content?  You can't use WoW as an example since that model has been unchanged for almost a decade.  I've gotten a ton of game time out of both SC games, Diablo, and WarCraft series. I cant even tell you how many days worth I have in WoW.  It's one thing if your complaint was towards an EA game like The Sims, but being negative towards Blizzard just sounds like a cry for attention

@ziproy For real right? Remind me how dota came into existence again?

@5443Thomas @telaros HOW exactly is Dota 2 pay to win? Buying a new hat or a different courier is gonna make you win? I fail tou see how.

WantYouBad

@justin01 @ziproy Blizzard coud have supported and made Dota a real boy...I mean game, but they pussied out. Valve stepped up and made Pinocchio.

WantYouBad
WantYouBad

@SKaREO @WantYouBad @justin01 @ziproy Of course, but Blizzard continued to support the original Dota as part of WC3 I mean actual supporting it, and if they had any brains they could have hired Steve Feak or Icefrog and spurned out a real game of it long before LoL and Valve's acquisition of Dota.

Vexov
Vexov

@SKaREO @WantYouBad @justin01 @ziproy I would think the only thing that would come close to making a real sequel would be from a Blizzard game, but of course Blizzard would be in charge and you wouldn't see something like DOTA 2 but with blizzard characters.

There is a lot of games inspired by Dota, who the fk cares about copying, EVERY fking game copies another game or ideas.

SKaREO
SKaREO

@WantYouBad @justin01 @ziproy Valve? Lol, umm. Guinsoo gave Dota to IceFrog before he started League of Legends. Years later Dota 2 was produced by Valve, but they had nothing to do with the original game. Keep in mind, most of the heroes in the game are inspired by other Blizzard games in the first place.
