Here's When Preorders Open for Oculus-Ready PCs

Preorders for the first "Oculus-Ready" PCs from companies like Asus, Alienware, and Dell--machines specifically designed to work right out of the box with the Oculus Rift headset--will open on February 16, Oculus announced today in a blog post. You'll be able to place an order that day starting at 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST.

On that date, you'll be able to preorder bundles that come with a Rift headset from Best Buy, Amazon, and the Microsoft Store. The bundles start at $949 (the Asus G11CD model) and scale to $2550 for the Alienware Area 51 system. You can see the full lineup of available bundles here.

If you're not looking to buy a new PC but still want to use Rift, you can use Oculus' official compatibility tool to see if your existing rig meets Rift's recommended system requirements.

Every bundle comes with an Oculus-Ready PC, and the Rift package, which includes the headset, sensor, remote, Xbox One controller, and copies of Eve: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale.

The units will start to ship to "select countries and regions" in April. The Rift headset alone begins shipping in March for people who ordered right away, but due to strong demand, orders placed now won't ship until the summer.
