Now Playing: Can Mirror's Edge Catalyst Fix Problems From the Original?

The original story is below.

The closed beta for Mirror's Edge Catalyst will begin on April 22 and last for five days, ending on April 26, EA has announced. Participants will be able to sample "several" main missions, side-missions, and some other optional content.

As previously announced, the closed beta will run for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on PC via EA's own Origin digital distribution platform. Those interested in participating can sign up for a chance to get into the closed beta through the website, although access is not guaranteed.

The game, meanwhile, is scheduled for worldwide launch on May 24. Although it was originally set to launch on February 23, producer Sara Jansson explained it was delayed to "make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it's as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be."

In Catalyst, Faith Connors returns as protagonist, and the game's story will revolve around her origins. As with the previous title, her efforts to combat a group of corporations who rule the city will also be a core part of the narrative.

The first Mirror's Edge was released in 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Swedish studio DICE (Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront) is also working on the sequel.

GameSpot recently got a hands-on with the game. Read our impressions here to find out why DICE has chosen to get rid of guns forever.
