Here's What NHL Hockey Looks Like on PS4 and Xbox One

EA releases first screenshot of NHL 15. What do you think?

Still reeling/celebrating from last night's match between the LA Kings and Chicago Blackhawks? EA has released its first screenshot (above) of its upcoming NHL 15, which will mark the long-running series' debut on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The screenshot shows San Jose Sharks player Joe Thornton and, well, not much else. I imagine EA is trying to show off its new player models with the picture. Other than those models, EA says NHL 15 will feature real-world physics for all 12 skaters on Xbox One and PS4, a "rebuilt" puck physics system, and a new implementation of the skill stick.

NHL 15 will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 this fall.

I hope they will not do another fighting game like they did with NHL14.Players get in fight after every body hit,it's just stupid.

They don't look very good. There's no sweat on them.

People let us not forget that this is EA Sports... Don't get duped by their marketing. That's clearly a shot from the intro or a trailer. The actual game is not going to look like that. How do I know?.. well for starters we have years of overhyped marketing and disappointing deliveries to go off of. Remember how Madden is "ALL NEW" every damn year? Well we know thats bullshit and this will be no different if its EA. EA is about their money not quality or the fans of the game. I think they are the one company that would change nothing slap on an all new and lie to sell it if they could get away with it.... Oh wait they been doing that... If you buy that just be prepared to take thee biggest L.

What's with the crowd? Jets, Coyotes and Sharks jerseys? And Joe's left leg looks weird, like a painting almost. Anyway, day one purchase for me.

I dunno why people complain about the graphics on this game. Don't get me wrong I like good graphics as much as the next guy but in reality, anyone that's good at this game plays on a classic type view from 30ft above ice level. At that distance graphics don't mean much. The focus should be on realistic feeling gameplay. Getting rid of issues like the apparent trampolines in the corners when someone dumps a puck in, or balancing, or even eliminating player types so kids can't boost one stat or another almost completely eliminating player type variances and play styles. .

"will feature real-world physics for all 12 skaters on Xbox One and PS4, a "rebuilt" puck physics system, and a new implementation of the skill stick."

All of that makes it sound like 15 will just be a minor upgrade over last year's game.

Doesn't look like him and everyone skips the clips between whistles anyways. Need some game play.

I still play NHL 2K8. EA have just recently started implementing features that already were 2K8.

First, it doesn't even look like him.

Second, it's EA, so you always have to take a guarded approach. ALWAYS!

They can't fool us anymore with catch phrases and buzzwords.  Those days are long gone. The new age is all about transparency. Too many review sites and information available to consumers to be able to feed us corporate BS talk and get away with it.

Dammit, EA, I'd buy more of your games if you actually released them on PC. There's no excuse not to now with the console hardware being so similar. Why is it that I can buy 15 different FIFA games on PC but NHL 09 is the only other title available? Pathetic.

I want Madden and NHL on PC.

I dought NHL 15  will look any better on PS4 and xbox one need to finally discontinue  last gen consoles for games to look alot better

cause this is totally representative of how the game will *actually* look during a match.  #dealwithit.

Well that looks impressive but let's wait until we see the actual game during gameplay...

WOW most impressive screenshots Gamespot but frankly, I'm no longer a Hockey fan ever since Atlanta Thrashers were sold and haven't watch a Hockey game like in years.

It wont look nothing like that, bf4 had enough bullshots

Wow great to know what only 1% of the game is going to look like. Excellent.

Screw EA with their "let's put out screenshots of something that might represent a replay, but not that actual gameplay" and acting like it's going to create hype. Jersey stitches haven't impressed me in literally over a decade.

We all know by now that the in-game graphics will look absolutely nothing like the CG screenshots EA show.  Instead of EA trying to dupe people into thinking they'll have amazing graphics, how about EA actually truly pull their lazy finger out & make great graphics in the actual game!  Then again, why bother being anything other than bone-ass lazy when you have a guaranteed cash-cow eh?

Oh please , I've dealt long enough with "bullshots" to know that what you see is not always what you get.

Phuck pysics.  With my 10 year old side done I can't freaking wait for this game.

this doesn't look anything close to Joe. Sorry EA, first screen and you effed it up. Lol.

Setzera

I'll have to wait for reviews as well.  Looking forward to a major graphical update that still keeps the awesome feel of the NHL 14 gameplay before I buy in to next gen.  This is one of the few titles that would get me a PS4, so, here's hoping EA doesn't drop the ball again.

OhSnapitz

I'll wait for the actual game to release before passing judgement.  Screens often fabricate what the end product will be... *Looking at your Watchdogs*

Besides although NBA 2K14 was beastly.. it didn't look as good as the early release screens.

Looks awesome. Already pre-ordered and ready to get it on!

Problem is the game never actually looks as good as that, same with FIFA and Madden and the others. Be interesting to see though.

Trickymaster

At first I was impressed but then I saw some polygons on the right arm of the jersey of the dude on the right *sigh*. All of this just reminds me of how correct PC gamers were all the time. Consoles are holding PC graphics back. Medium-range GPUs could handle that already. It's just the publishers never bothered to create graphics that take advantage of PC hardware and instead settle for the lowest common denominator.

It's a shame.

valknight

@pgl163 that did that to discourage hard hitting.. guess what.. thats kinda how it works in real hockey too.. if you level a player an enforcer will come looking for you..

valknight
valknight

@liquidbutter lol they still sweat in an ice rink.. besides who cares if you see their sweat.. nobody who plays hockey cares abou that.. we just wanna see thigns like goalie play and hitting..

PinkFloyd2003
PinkFloyd2003

The Coyotes were the Jets before they moved and specifically that version of the logo belongs to that franchise, not the new Jets/thrashers franchise. The crowd wears any of the available jerseies including throwbacks (ie Colorado and the Nordiques, Dallas and the North Stars) All the games for the last 8 or 9 years do this.

x1xclutchx8x
x1xclutchx8x

They're actually claiming they're revamping player physics and they've hired a world class physicist from the Hadron Collider to rebuild their puck physics from the ground up.. on next gen consoles at least. The only thing they're talking about for 360 and ps3 is "upgraded collision physics" which sounds like minor tweaks, not worth shelling out 60$ really. The game has potential on next gen though.

zyxahn

@Setzera You mean puck right ???  I am sorry but I had to.

@OhSnapitz

Yes it's to early to judge. We are in bullshot territory right now.

duerango
duerango

@Trickymaster Then why don't you make an exclusive PC game your self instead of blaming consoles for holding back "PC graphics", there is nothing holding the "PC graphics" back as the game developer's could make a game that only $1000 GPU's could handle... it's just that no game developer is that stupid to waste there money doing something like that, unless he had an ambition purely to show off the power of there engine.

liquidbutter
liquidbutter

@valknight @liquidbutter Sweat has actually become a pretty common addition to sports games. It's a nice graphical touch to add to the game's resume even if it makes no difference. It gives a nice sheen to their skin, which gives you more of a reason to call it realistic looking. At this point most sports games have nailed the gameplay and all they have left to imrpove on year after year is graphical fidelity.

West123

@duerango @Trickymaster crysis 1 and the arma series there are plenty games that would make a console sh*t its self

@West123 Of course... unless your an Xbox fanboy disguised as a PC elitist trying to find ways to bring down the PS4 haha!
