Heavy Rain studio revealing next project at E3 - Report

Quantic Dream's David Cage will reportedly reveal studio's next major title during Sony's press conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo; two projects reportedly in the works for Sony.

Quantic Dream founder David Cage will reportedly reveal his studio's next gaming project at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in June in Los Angeles.

Cage's next project will reportedly be revealed at E3 next week.

Citing a "senior development source" inside the Heavy Rain studio, a CVG report states that Cage will appear onstage during Sony's E3 press conference next Monday to talk about his next project.

The same source also reportedly told the publication that Quantic Dream is currently working on two unannounced projects for Sony, though it is unclear whether both are in development for the PlayStation 3.

Earlier this month, Cage stated that the next generation of consoles won't be needed until 2017, saying he would be happy to see the PS3 continue on for another five years.

The most recent title that Cage and Quantic Dream released was 2010's well-received adventure game Heavy Rain. Cage showed a tech demo titled Kara during the 2012 Game Developers Conference in March, but the developer said that this has nothing to do with the company's next project.

@Hairygrim: Yea, if I'm not mistaken.. David Cage himself said that they won't make sequels nor they did not like it..

Okay, really looking forwards to hearing what it is. Quantic Dream are a fantastic creator of games. They had me at Farenheit.

Cannot wait to see what they produce. I would say fingers crossed that it isn't a Heavy Rain 2, but I think we all know Quantic Dream better than that.

Here is to hoping they have learned how to make a game that isn't just a decent crime story wrapped over one large QTE .

I have never worked so hard in a videogame to get a character to do something as mundane as get dressed as I did in the half hour I spent playing Heavy Rain.

even though it didn't feel like you could change much of the story of heavy rain only the ending it was a great game so different from everything else out there. What every they have planned next will be another breath of fresh air.

im looking forward to it, but in my opinion they need to make this one less a movie, and more a game.

I cannot get excited about this until it is announced that David Cage will NOT be penning the script.  His bad writing and complete lack of storytelling skills really soured what should otherwise have been great experiences (Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit).  Sadly, in addition to being a bad writer I'm pretty sure the guy is a narcissist and will once again insist upon writing the script himself.

@theKSMM Haha I thought all that mundane stuff was ridiculously fun! I like seeing things like that in video games.

@SlimeSwayze Are you trying to say Heavy Rain wasn't the single greatest video game story of all time? That's blasphemy.

@buying1999 John Carmack has done nothing special this whole gen. He is irrelevant to current gaming.

lmaocarrots

@buying1999 Heavy Rain is still more innovative and emotional than any Xbox 360 exclusive, so you've proven nothing.

@DashRender619 I think it would make more sense to hire on a professional writer who understand how to develop characters, create believable interactions between those characters, and progress a story in a natural way that isn't compromised by plotholes and illogical nonsense.  He could still come up with the general story arch, but let someone who knows what they're doing take care of the actual writing.

@sarsel trolled by a known hardcore troller... guy has nothing to say at all.  when someone uses circular logic as often and as contrived as he does thats all the evidence you need to see.  i wouldnt waste but a mere glance over his profound stupidity.

SlimeSwayze

@leviathan_wing Bitter about what?  I just hope they improve with every game, and the writing is the one area I'd really like to see take a big step forward.
