Hollywood trade publication Variety reports that Blockade Entertainment is developing a direct-to-video CG-animated film based on Ninja Theory's action game.

The film company is also working on the Ratchet & Clank movie with Rainmaker Entertainment (Escape from Planet Earth), which will hit theaters in 2015.

Heavenly Sword launched in 2007 exclusively on PlayStation 3. The game's plot revolves around hero warrior Nariko battling to protect the blade of power from falling into the wrong hands.

King Bohan (voiced by Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis) is the main antagonist in the game, out to obtain the sword.
