A mere two percent of Hearthstone players reach rank 5 in the collectible card game, with just 0.2% going on to achieve the legend rank.

Developer Blizzard revealed the statistic in a blog post that attempts to assure those who dwell in the lower ranks that they are far from alone.

Some 75 percent of players sit between Rank 15 and the lowest class, Rank 25. Another 17.5 percent (about a sixth) of players have achieved a rank somewhere between 15 and ten, while just 5.5 percent sit between Rank ten and five.

Activision Blizzard recently announced that Hearthstone has amassed some 20 million registered players since it launched earlier in the year.

"Just because you haven’t hit Legend rank doesn’t mean you are doing poorly in Hearthstone," the studio wrote.

"On the contrary, only a very small percentage of Hearthstone players have reached Legend rank."

No matter how high up the rankings a player climbs in Hearthstone, at the end of each month Blizzard knocks players down to refresh the competition.

Even if reaching ranks ten or above could result in falling to the late-teens at the end of each month.
