Hasbro Inc. has announced its third-quarter earnings, which have grown 40 percent from last year's. The company cites its line of Furby dolls, Star Wars and Pokemon toys, and video games as reasons for the large gain.

Hasbro has earned US$85 million for the quarter ending Sept. 26, compared with the $61 million it earned during Q3, 1998. For the first nine months of FY 99, the company has earned $131.3 million, with sales of $2.6 billion.

With Pokemon fever growing, and the recent purchase of Wizards of the Coast (the maker of Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering card games), it looks like Hasbro is bound for even more growth and profits.
