Ridge Racer fans if not already excited for R4 should be. The game is being released tomorrow in Japan but we got our hands on an early copy. Here's what we found.

The game features eight race courses, more than 300 playable cars, and a Grand Prix mode that lets players go through a racing season. The game also has a two-player split screen mode for head to head racing.

Through the use of incredible lighting effects and superb textures R4's graphics easily rival those of Gran Turismo. The control is unmistakably Ridge Racer although we haven't yet got a chance to try the game with the special JogCon controller yet. The game moves at an incredibly fast pace giving you a real sensation of speed.

R4 comes with a second disc that has the original Ridge Racer and a new and improved as well. The special edition of the classic PlayStation racer runs at 60 frames per second. Also included on the disc is a catalog of Namco titles for the PlayStation including playable demos of Libero Grande Namco's upcoming soccer game, Tekken 3, Klonoa, and Tales of Destiny. Also worth mentioning are the catalog's movie of Ace Combat 3 (that unfortunately doesn't shows any actual gameplay) and character art for Dragon Valor.
