Halo: Spartan Assault coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One

343 Industries and Vanguard Games bringing mobile game to consoles in December.

Halo: Spartan Assault, the first Halo game designed for mobiles, is coming to consoles.

Microsoft announced today that Halo: Spartan Assault--originally released in July--will be released on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in December from 343 Industries and Vanguard Games.

No price for the console version of Halo: Spartan Assault was specified. The Windows 8 and Windows Phone version currently sells for $7.

The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of Halo: Spartan Assault will feature an all-new online co-op mode, as well as the previously released single-player Operation Hydra expansion.

Multiplayer between the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of Halo: Spartan Assault is not supported. Microsoft did not say if cross-platform play between console and PC or console and smartphones will be supported.

Microsoft said previously that cross-platform play between consoles and PC "makes sense."

Halo: Spartan Assault is a twin-stick-controlled top-down shooter takes place between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4. The game contains 30 missions, integration with Halo 4 that includes additional experience points and unlockable Spartan emblems, and in-app purchases.

In addition to Halo: Spartan Assault, an all-new Halo game is currently in development for Xbox One. This game is "legitimate," according to Microsoft Studios VP Phil Spencer.

Great! I just bought this a month ago for my Windows 8 laptop. Now I gotta buy it again. I really don't like the way the game's weapon setup is. It makes you almost have to buy everything except the most basic shit. Hopefully they scrap all that bullshit for the console. They probably will charge $20 for it because it contains an expansion pack and hopefully get rid of the micro-transaction garbage.

Cool. How many players for online coop?

This will do until they made a proper Halo Wars 2.

I also wonder if they will now remove the weapon microtransactions.

Would be a great choice as a free title, hopefully that's the idea.

A decent game on PC and mobile; hope it holds up well in the transition to Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

In other words they couldn't get people to buy Windows 8 to play this game so now they have to release it on 360 and X1 to recoup the dev money. All I have to say is thank goodness, cuz I wasn't gonna buy Windows 8, but I do want to play this.

"This game is "legitimate," according to Microsoft Studios VP Phil Spencer".

Let me rephrase what he meant.

LEGITIMATELY REHASHED.

LOL.

Microsoft certainly weren't lying about the exclusives.

More rehashed trash. LOL.

@Grimkillah I had a hard time playing Halo Wars. It would have been nice on PC. I find RTS games difficult to control on consoles

@themc_7 @Grimkillah True, PC offer finer controls for RTS, but with enough practice, I ended up pretty good at it. Practice is the key.

@R2C25 @Queuingreturns

How many HD remakes? 3? 4? 5?

At least they're really good.

Halo is rehashed garbage. LOL.

Halo 4 lost out to Journey for GOTY. Fancy that. A best selling FPS beaten by a one-off exclusive indie game. Ahahahahahaha.

@Queuingreturns Journey beat out all other big name retail games, including PS3 games. Granted, high quality retail PS3 exclusives were practically non-existent last year.

@Queuingreturns Journey is a nice game but Halo is something else. A force of nature in its own merit. Journey was a good game but it doesn't keep me plugged to the screen like John 117 does. I could've written more but a kid like you would never get it.
