Halo developer joins EA Visceral

Former 343 Industries project lead designer Scott Warner lands at Dead Space studio working on unannounced game.

Halo 4 project lead designer Scott Warner has joined the Electronic Arts-owned Visceral Games, the developer announced on Twitter today.

Prior to joining 343 Industries in 2009, Warner spent more than seven years at the now-defunct Pandemic Studios (Mercenaries) and three years at Black Isle Studios (Planescape: Torment).

Visceral Games shipped Dead Space 3 earlier this year. Though it failed to meet EA's sales expectations, the franchise is "not out of rotation."

The studio is working on an all-new Star Wars game separate from the DICE-developed Star Wars: Battlefront for next-generation consoles and PC.

The new Star Wars games from DICE and Visceral will run on the Frostbite 3 engine.

I don't care for Halo because Destiny is pretty much Halo!

Halo dev with experience from the Mercenaries and Planescape: Torment studios is joining Dead Space studio Visceral, that are currently working on a Star Wars game. So, obviously it be a visceral game about bounty hunters (Mercenaries) using power armor (Halo) philosophizing about life and death (Planescape: Torment) while also dismembering infected creatures (Dead Space) in a Star Wars setting. Hmm, that sounds quite interesting.

Wao! this man joins the developers who are on "life support". In the grave more likely. This is the BEST news ever (NOT)

Oh man... hate to lose anyone from Halo 4. Especially a project lead. People don't think it makes much of a difference but I point to Uncharted 2 to 3. While 3 was good... it missed a lot of what made 2 perfect.

What changed? Lead director switched over to make The Last of Us... which turned out unsurprisingly amazing. One person can make a difference to a game... here's hoping Halo 5 doesn't lose it's focus.

Haha! Maybe if Dead Space 3 was more survival horror and less action shooter it would have done much better. Dead Space 1 was a beautiful horror game and Dead Space 2 somehow managed to have a perfect balance of action and horror. DS3 just killed all these notions. I'm not holding my breath...but I hope they fix the series.

Every time Dead Space 3 is mentioned in ANY article it is immediately followed up by "however, it failed to meet expectations". I loved Dead Space 3 at contrary to "expectations" it was actually profitable.

When I see comments like that it reminds me of when your friends try to hook you up with a fat girl and then followup with "but she has a great personality".

It needs to be death troopers. If anyone can make that book into a game, it's Visceral.

EA, please lower your sales expectations and save the unique game that DS is.

The next game will be called "Alive Space" and you play a lone necromorph trying to protect the last baby marker from the evil of all human life in the universe. Crawl through a galaxy of ventilation ducts and burst out of many vents and hatches to destroy your enemies! Surprise many humans by lurking behind doors waiting for them to open the doors! Coming soon...sometime.

@green_scorpion I can never understand why people say that.

EA own tons of developer houses. It's the Developers themselves that need the support to make truly great games and if they happen to need EA for the money so be it.

@thorn3000 We've had enough Torment with the recent Star Wars games, it's time we got some kind of (plan)escape from that and started getting some good games.

@wookiegr Those comments are probably from those who didn't play the game and only read the reviews. Apparently, 8.0 is a mediocre score these days.

@Grenadeh Honestly I felt like the book really wasn't that good, it had way to many cliched "out of the thousands of zombie, the ones who attack you are people you know" It had a great idea, and it would work well as a game, but I feel the book could of been a lot better

Nightdragonist

@Dresden05 @green_scorpion Well, you can't blame him. EA WAS good back at the 2000's. Now it's just an evil corporation. You can see what happen to MoH.

And yes. EA is home of great games after Ubisoft and R*. They're "publishing" great games. If there's no EA, possibly, some games will go RIP

@Grenadeh @RicanV  agreed, I enjoyed it more tan God of War 3 and Bayonetta, games of the same year and so called 'superior' (debetable, since they have better balance production values).
