At a press event today in Japan, Capcom showed off the third entry in its court battle franchise, Gyakuten Saiban 3. Producer Atsushi Inaba gave those in attendance an overview of the upcoming game, which is a prequel to the series.

While the Gyakuten Saiban games have been popular in Japan, none of them have ever been released in the US. The game is set 15 years prior to the first game in the series when the main character, Haruhodo was still a college student. For those unfamiliar with the series, Gyakuten Saiban is an adventure game in which the player assumes the role of a hot-blooded lawyer, solving cases by investigating in the field and cracking down in the courtroom. Inaba stated that this third installment in the series would boast improved pacing and an easy to understand controls. In addition the game's graphics and audio have seen some significant improvements, offering a much better package overall. Gyakuten Saiban 3 is slated to be released in Japan on January 23. The game will most likely not be released anywhere outside of Japan, as the game's producer cited the game's cultural humor as one facet of the game that wouldn't translate well to other regions.
