Guild Wars world preview announced

ArenaNet to hold another weekend open beta test in October; announces preorders will allow participation in future events.

ArenaNet and NCsoft announced that they will be holding a world preview event to kick off the beta period for the upcoming online PC role-playing game Guild Wars. Players will be able to download the game client from the official Web site and play the beta version of the game over the October 29 weekend.

If the similar "E3 for Everyone" event held in May set any precedent, the Guild Wars servers should be packed for the duration of the weekend with players trying out the game. ArenaNet also announced that Guild Wars preorders, which begin in September, will let players participate in subsequent beta previews following the October event.

Guild Wars is scheduled for release early next year. See GameSpot's Q&A with the game's producer, Jeff Strain, for more information.
