GTAV story DLC coming in 2014

"Substantial additions" that extend the story of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor coming next year.

Rockstar Games will release Grand Theft Auto V story downloadable content in 2014, the developer announced today through its website.

"We have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin, and Trevor's action, mayhem, and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas," Rockstar said.

No new single-player content for GTAV has been announced to date. Predecessor Grand Theft Auto IV welcomed two post-release expansions: The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Also planned for 2014 are GTA Online Heists. Rockstar said it is currently working "very hard" to polish them as best it can before release next year, though no other details were revealed.

Rockstar also teased today that it has "much more" to announce regarding 2014 plans for GTAV and GTA Online. The developer is rumored to launch GTAV for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2014. For more on GTAV, check out GameSpot's review.

Will it be released on a physical copy? I would totally buy that. My biggest issue with GTAV was how it was kind of short.

If R* can make an undead nightmare for GTA5 on PS4 then I think that would be the best case scenario possible. After you beat the game you have nothing to do (sorry online sucks) and the lack of any fun cheat codes like pedestrian riot give the game even less replay value. Put zombies into that beautiful sprawling map so we can just go crazy in that world fighting to survive as it would provide ENDLESS REPLAY VAULE (something this game is sorely lacking).

Not trying to be 'indiscreet', but I would like to know what Rockstar have been "cooking" for us, players of GTAV SP.
What I really want is a DLC with more activities, more options when we hang-out with other GTAV characters, and more content when not on a mission. Being able to hang-out with more characters is always a good thing. I mean, seriously. Missions are what GTA is all about. However, players tend to spend more time after they finish the game, so creating such content is 'imperative'. I am enjoying SP mode, but there's so many things that have to be added/implemented. There's, indisputably, ample room for improvement.

If southern San Andreas means a new city, map and or some new building we can actually go instead of just stealing money from every 24/7 on the map and going into trevors meth lab and pretending its cool that there are no interiors at all in this really awesome game.

im sorry, im still hurt. honestly waiting on gta 6,

Not buying any DLC, till R* gives us an option to turn off the annoying flash kill effect. Seeing the entire game world flash with a little x to show the player where each fatal shot was landed, for each kill made with a gun, really ruins combat in GTA 5. Shootouts no longer feel intense, and more like a cheap arcade game. A GTA story mode should never have hit markers. Blood effects are good enough as hit indicators, leave cheap x markers and screen flashes  for COD online.

Expansion? hahaha GTA 5 already feels like an expansion in how short the story is(69 missions compared to GTA 4's epic of 94 missions).  Especially Franklins story felt unfinished and under developed. We never fully get to know why Franklin and Lamar are beefing with Stretch and the ballas. Franklin's entire story just feels like an excuse to have a black guy in the game.

I was never disappointed by TBOGT or the lost and damned, hopefully this will deliver even more.

I hope that if GTAV comes out on PS4 they offer Online as a separate option (so you buy the whole game or just Online), I'll get DLC for story on PS3 and get DLC for Online on PS4 (as Online is where I'll spend most of my time)........ But saying that, it was good enough for another purchase.......

Michaels stuff is plain stupid, Franklin soso, Trevor has the best to do. Arms trafficking is a lot of fun, the taxi and tow truck are good but you need more things like this. Wanted list cop ambulance fire truck that never end would great. Missions for the tank and other vehicles like the cement truck, dumptrucks, bulldozers and semi's would be fun. I still like the gangster mob type storyline more than all this heist stuff. It feels like it's going down hill. I hate that space garbage, GTA is supposed to be cool. Zombies are about as bad.

think i might hold out on buying the dlc until they can confirm if it's coming to ps4...

I think they should add a DLC that has to do with San Andreas again. Maybe continue what happens with CJ. I'd definitely purchase that.

Rockstar is the cancer of gaming. They are even worse than Activision. This is why EA is my favorite company of all time.

@Dredcrumb9 i'll agree on the last part about franklin. even michael's story which was easily the most developed still felt underdeveloped. whoever they put in charge for the direction of each character's stories did a poor job. no one will really care though because of all the hype surrounding the game.

adamh1981
adamh1981

@DemocraticTroll I dont think the DLC will actually continue from your saved game file of the main GTAV game. It will most likely just be a completely seperate game file that follows on from the "Deathwish" option where all 3 characters are alive. And everything you have from the main game, customized vehicles, weapons, money etc will also not be there at the start of the DLC.

Dredcrumb9

@DemocraticTroll Micheal, another flaw with gta 5. What were they thinking having a snitch as one of the main characters? O well, at least you can kill him.

Agreed.  Zombie DLC is played out.   They already had that fun little topsy-turvy set of side missions with the weed guy, and that was plenty.  Let's see what they can do with some new mechanics and a continuation of the current storyline.

@sanechupp Trevor was the spirit of GTA defo, I spend most of my time as him and feel less "guilty" as him doing bad things.

@Roffey23 Even though I'm contradicting what I said before release, I wouldn't buy this game again with better graphics - hell, the graphics are already amazing, but it doesn't make the game any more fun when the main mission is over. It's probably the best engine out there, but we need SOMETHING TO DO in it.

@biggestnewb @Dredcrumb9 well unfortunately this is what happens when you have 3 protagonists rather than just the one. i would have prefered one fleshed out protagonist rather than 3 short storys

@mattcake @Roffey23 What about for smoother frames? After playing anything on console for awhile I stop noticing the lower framerates, but damn do they become apparent when going straight from PC.

I mean, with Assassin's Creed games, there are pockets of silky smoothness (climbing towers, being on islands), and man do I wish the whole experience was like that.

Whether he's serious or not its still a funny read. A damn funny read. See me virtually laughing? Ha ha..  oh lawdy ha ha ha. Its funny because EA is in fact the cancer of the gaming industry.

In all seriousness it was pretty funny.
