GTA 5 Mods Turn Los Santos Into a Last of Us-Like Wasteland

Grand Theft Auto V mods continue to impress.

Los Santos and Blaine County, the two major areas of Grand Theft Auto V, are mostly bright and full of life. But thanks to some new mods, we now have an idea for what the in-game universe might look like if it all well to hell and became a post-apocalyptic world not unlike Naughty Dog's The Last of Us.

What you see in the video above is a combination of user-made mods for GTA V, the first of which is a map called After Us: Rodeo. Made by GTA5-Mods user Rapidiment, this map contains 60-plus crashed cars and is meant to look like something out of The Last of Us. The other mod is a character skin made by GTAFREAk67S based on Joel, one of the protagonists of The Last of Us.

YouTube user taltigolt--who previously brought us GTA V videos of murderous kitties and bike-riding cows--put these together and shot this video (via Kotaku). Note that there aren't actually any zombies or otherworldly creatures to fight against, but there are probably other mods for that.

In other news about GTA V, parent publisher Take-Two has announced that the game has now shipped 60 million copies.
