GTA 5 getting new cars and guns next week

Free "Business Update" for Grand Theft Auto Online will arrive March 4 on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network; adds sports cars and high-power weapons.

by

Rockstar Games today announced that the next major free update for Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto V, will launch next week and bring with it a host of new downloadable content.

The Business Update, as Rockstar is calling it, will arrive on Tuesday, March 4 on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The update will introduce new sports cars like the Albany Alpha, Dinka Jester, and Grotti Turismo R; a new airplane called Vestra will also be available.

Grand Theft Auto Online's Business Update will also introduce two new weapons: the Heavy Pistol and the Special Carbine.

The Vestra

The Business Update also brings with it new formal and business casual attire like suit jackets, slacks, glasses, heels, and blouses. "All-business" hairstyles and money-themed tattoos, alongside new masks, will also be available.

All new vehicles and weapons from the Business Update will be available to players in both Story Mode and Grand Theft Auto Online. In Story Mode, the weapons will show up in your inventory and the three cars will be available in your garage. For Grand Theft Auto Online, the weapons can be purchased at any Ammu-Nation store while the cars can be bought from Legendary Motorsport and Elitas.

Finally, Rockstar said it will share further details about a special Business Update weekend event in the near future. The developer also teased that it will soon have news to share regarding Online Heists, the Capture Creator update, new Assassination and Flight School missions, and "much more."

The "much more" could be referencing the story mode DLC currently in development for Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar Games announced this content in December, teasing that upcoming expansions for the game will launch in 2014 and continue the story of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. l

Predecessor Grand Theft Auto IV welcomed two post-release expansions: The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Man, I don't get it. There seems to be a lot of love for GTA 4 here. I had to force myself to finish it, just seemed too slow paced compared to the previous GTA's. I think GTA 5 is the best one yet and from the looks of this blog, I see I'm in the minority. Not complaining, just very surprised.

In Story mode, not seeing the new weapons in my inventory or Ammu-nation, nor am I seeing the new vehicles in my garage(s) or online stores! I loaded GTA V (ver. X360) and downloaded the 64MB update @ 7:30PM (confirmed its existance on my HD too).

Am I alone on this? I've read forums, sites, and R*s - no one is mentioning this problem.

My main issue with GTAO is the instancing. You spend half the time in a lobby (even replaying a game with the same people takes a lot of time) and you never feel immersed in the world because you're teleported back and forth between different servers and different "game modes". What makes GTA good is that it mixes different types of games into one product. GTAO feels like a collection of lackluster minigames akin to a sort of R-rated Mario Party.

This makes me glad I don't have the game anymore!

Screw your piece of crappy multi-player element, it takes WAY too long to level up and leveling up in the game has to be the most mind numbingly soul destroying BOOOOOORING task you could ever partake on.

Developers of games need to realize yes perhaps some leveling in the game should be there but when you're making that sequence boring as anything you're damaging your game not improving it.

Like hearing news about the updates, sadly GTA V like for most of you didn't do it for me either. The main issue (speaking on single player only) was that due to that 3 ring arc, you never felt attached to any of the characters, only felt like you were just aiding them along from 1 scenario to the next unlike past games R* is known to make where they place heavy emphasis on building up the main lead. I more feel had they chose 1 character for you to use but introduce the switching mechanic on like the main missions only for certain situations then it would've been received differently by most gamers. I also hope in the next game they remove that time speeding mechanic where you go to do a mission at a certain time of the day and suddenly it quickly changes to night or something, seriously takes away from the immersion of the game as it makes you feel like so many hours have passed already, like what the fuck was the characters doing all that time or something, lol?!!

I can't believe after all this time since the game's release, R* is still ONLY TALKING about the heists missions... Seems they really dropped the ball on this one...

This game is a joke. GTA 4 had a better storyline than this pile of junk.

Way too long for the Multiplayer Bank Heist. Already gave up on the game and turned it in.

Are they just gonna ignore single player?

Don't care on online, but the story mode dlc sounds interesting.

they need to focus more on the single palyer mode like they did in gta: san andreas

This game was a real step backwards for R*. The story and characters were just awful. After the fantastic stories and characters in Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV, I was hugely disappointed with this game. I cannot, however, fault the quality of the world they created, it was excellent.

Every day I'm getting more and more glad that this game won't come to the PC, reading all the comments... it sounds like a boring game.

So I guess Rockstar have just abandoned the whole Heist thing at this point...teased at it, what the hell.

I loved the singleplayer story of GTA V... I hate the multiplayer

As soon as I realized I had to pay every time I want to drive a different car in peace, I was done... When I tried it again in good faith and realized you have to pay for every race you start, I just gave up and traded my game in.

Because I know now that they will never do the things we all actually want to see in that online mode. Give us our own actual storyline just like the 3 main characters had... let us go crazy after that story, Don't micro-transact, and ban everyone who is under the age of 17

I think that's saying enough.

Honestly due to lack of Heist in this game, I actually moved on to Payday 2.

I got it for free on PSN+ and Have been having more fun with that game and their heist, then I've had with this game, doing the same mission layouts and getting the same car or drugs for the same people, over and over, and over, and over, and over again.

I liked GTA4 but never fully got on board; the prior iterations didn't play. But God I love this game, probably logged 2 or 3 hundred hours so far.

If they could put co-op play in the online it might actually be worth playing.

I bought the game for $39.99 and played it for about two weeks. Great game, but never got into the MP part of it.

All I want is a next-gen GTA V, with a single-player dlc with alot more heists in it. If they're not going to give us a next-gen version, at least make the dlc good with heist and a casino for us to gamble.

Everyone keeps saying that R* got greedy, but truth is that they keep throwing out free content that they could easily charge for.  Keep up the good work R*.

@N-bellic really? people actually think the story was bad? , man and i thought gta vi story was terrible. you nerds never fail to amaze me with your idiocy . nothing wrong in fact this probably the best gta game they ever made.

@N-bellic  really? story n characters was much more interesting than gta 4 missions in 5 are much more fun than 4 too so i wouldnt exactly call that a step backwards

@predatorGS  Boring is definitely NOT the term I would use. Maybe buggy, and the fact that they put more attention on unnecessarily exploit fixing when they need to be updating the game with what they promised on release. But it's far from boring.

famos_ga
famos_ga

@kitmeep  gta online killed the single player mode.............they didnt flush out the characters in story mode ...............i was bored at times...........but they hit a homerun with the stock market i love that feature..............story mode wasnt good

@psuedospike I would honestly like them to work on porting it over to current consoles at this present time.

ERRMAHGERD

@psuedospike I doubt they stopped it. They have to make it, it will mean people spending more time playing and maybe spending even more money = win.

nl_skipper
nl_skipper

@dangerzone50  I didn't like the MP, out of the gate, and they seem to keep making it LESS fun.  Every attempt to crack down on exploiters does more to ruin the fun for regular people than it does to eliminate any "problem" players.  I put problem in quotes because they're just people trying to get the most fun out of the game... not really a problem for most, just ruins the (terrible) leveling style R* is going for.

Though my biggest issue has been the removal of my favourite game type (Coops n' Crooks... why!?), and the other server options to find a room are terrible, you can't even choose GTA race over regular race, or setup a death-match and actually choose the level to play on.. you have to start the lobby from that area on the map,  it's just tedious design in so many ways.  A large step back from the online in GTA IV imo, all for the sake of making it feel like some kind of living world online by having random players and griefers everywhere...?

Dredcrumb9
Dredcrumb9

@dangerzone50  I found the single player felt watered down too much like a multiplayer arcade game. If only there was a way to turn off that stupid screen flashing effect and X marker that pop up for every kill, the story and actions throughout it would feel more real.

@rarerichz

AHAHAHAHA, i know your not here using the word "idiocy" when clearly any GTA fan can tell you that the last GTA ever made was GTA 5, never knew R* already made GTA 6 or (vi)  as how you have it, LMAO!!

N-bellic
N-bellic

@famos_ga @N-bellic  My thoughts exactly. The game lacks the soul of the aforementioned games. R* always have had really memorable and likeable characters who had their flaws but were easy to route for (CJ, Nico, John Marston, Cole Phelps). Michael was your typical Italian-American, middle aged, Godfather-esque character. Nothing we haven't seen before. Franklin was a typical 'gangster with a dream'. Trevor was certainly memorable, but woefully unlikeable. Nothing compared to their predecessors.

dark_rising76
dark_rising76

@dom7766 @N-bellic  I agree, the characters were much more fun than GTA IV, I just wished that there was more heists in the single player missions and the ability to customize your safehouses.

psuedospike

@ERRMAHGERD I agree, just being dramatic, it's just I played the shit outta Online when it came out and got enough money to buy the nice apartment and filled my garage with every type of chromed out vehicle and bought every weapon and haven't touched it since cause there's no reason to make money anymore.  Also, JP (job points) have been completely useless since day 1.  I'm sure it will happen eventually, but will there still be as many players when it finally happens, I doubt it.

jagcivtec
jagcivtec

@Dredcrumb9 Agree, I just go further saying the whole game got a serious dose of "dumb down for the casual market" treatment.  I didn't like the approach one bit.  I really preferred the bolder feel of GTA4 and of course the physics.  A game with no physics that provide for random crazy stunts is a trade in after a month.  Who still plays this anyway?  It has no long appeal like other GTA entries.

They broke sales records and probably broke several unofficial records like most trade ins in history, most trade ins in a year, most trade in a month, most anticipated game that got old in 15 days, and many more in that order.  Have you seen the walls full of used GTA5 trade ins at gamespot?  Oh, only game to cover a wall of a store with trade ins record.  Great job pleasing the casual market Rockstar.

Just my 2 cents.

@famos_ga I think you forgot the part in whith it says that both SP and MP get the same stuff here (And that SP DLC is in development atm)
