GT Reports Increase in Revenue

Strong console sales drive higher revs.

GT Interactive Software Corp. today reported a 40 percent increase in revenue to US$103 million in the second quarter over revenues for the same period last year, primarily due to strong sales in the console and international markets.

The company also reported net income of $4.5 million, or $0.07 per share, an increase of 28 percent over the comparable period in 1996.

Revenues were up in all segments of GT's business, particularly in front-line publishing, which increased 78 percent. International sales accounted for 45 percent of front-line publishing, and console game sales accounted for 42 percent. GT shipped six console titles in the quarter.
