GSUK Christmas Wishes Day 5: Alienware m9750

After my rather whimsical and far-fetched wish, I've come a little more down to earth this time around...

Actually, that's a lie -- I'm about as likely to get this this year as I am to see Goldeneye appear, with online multiplayer, on Xbox Live, the Wii Virtual console, and a giant laser-display board floating in the sky over my house... but a boy can dream.

Wish number two from me is for an Alienware Area 51 m9750 .. which is a little beast of a gaming laptop.

The m9750 is styled like something out of some cheesy-but-good cyberpunk--think Gibson or Stephenson--as it's matt black. Every surface is black, with a few changes of texture.

I've never really been a fan of Alienware kit before, as it's tended to be a bit too gaudy for my tastes, but this is one piece of kit that I discovered and really didn't want to let go of (as GSUK podcast listeners may remember).

To get to the nitty-gritty of it, the model I want has got 2GB of RAM, with a 2.33 GHz Core 2 and 2 (count 'em) NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics cards... I was testing a few things on it a couple of months ago, and had more fun PC gaming than I had had in a very long time... World in Conflict was a revelation, Football Manager was a pleasure, and even WoW (which I had serious reservations about playing on a laptop) was great.

If you're looking for a relatively hardcore gaming laptop (and don't care too much about portability) you couldn't go far wrong with this particular piece of kit... and that's exactly why I want one. Are you listening, Mr Clause?
