To honor the console retail release of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, GameSpot Asia held a community game night last Friday on July 1 for fighting game fans across Singapore. Players who were there also got to meet a few special guests for the event: Mike Ross, Ryan "Gootecks" Gutierrez of ComPlexity/Cross Counter and Cross Counter TV fame, and Zhieeep.TW.

The three of them showed off their proficient use of E. Honda, Balrog, and Zangief respectively, against local challengers like Ho Ku Xian (under the nickname "Xian"), who was the sole Singaporean representative who came in seventh in the recent Shadowloo Showdown 2011 tournament last month, and Eng Ghim Kee (under the nickname "Gackt") whom GameSpot Asia recently interviewed.

GameSpot Asia also held a 16-man tournament using single elimination rules, with the winner getting prizes worth S$150. When all was said and done, the victor was Eng Ghim Kee who used Fei Long. Second place went to Hoe Kok Leong (under his nickname "Ganguro") who displayed his skills using Sagat, while third place went to Leslie Cheong who also used the Muay Thai tiger shot-chucking powerhouse.
