Sierra Studios announced today that Ground Control, a real-time strategy game from Sweden-based developer Massive Entertainment, has shipped worldwide to retail stores.

Ground Control tells the story of the struggle between two warring factions: the Crayven Corporation and the Order of the New Dawn. A third World War has ruined Earth, and humans have colonized alien worlds. The Order and Crayven Corporation are the two leading sides vying to control humanity's burgeoning galactic colonies.

Ground Control's gameplay is geared toward 3D tactical combat. The game de-emphasizes resource management to let players focus on commanding a variety of near-future units such as tanks, hovercraft, planes, and infantry.

Ground Control's estimated retail price is US$47.99.
