As one of Major League Baseball's elite starting pitchers, Curt Schilling knows that having a staff full of aces is necessary to be a success. The EverQuest addict and Boston Red Sox hurler has announced some new hires for his game development company, Green Monster Games. Stepping into the role of president will be Brett Close, formerly of Midway Games and Electronic Arts.

Of Close, Schilling says, "My commitment right now must be on the field helping the Red Sox win another World Championship, and to do that to the best of my ability I need to know that the person in charge possesses the same thoughts, beliefs, integrity, and accountability that I feel I do, and Brett does just that."

Also joining Green Monster Games is Mary Kirchoff as senior vice president of marketing and brand development. Kirchoff previously held a post at Wizards of the Coast and is credited with discovering fantasy author R.A. Salvatore, who also works at GMG. Chaz Sutherland, formerly of Shiny Entertainment, was also hired as GMG's art director.

Green Monster Games has yet to announce its first project.
