Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas hits PS3 this week

Rockstar Games' 2004 open-world action game reborn on PlayStation 3 December 11; price not announced.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will arrive on PlayStation Network December 11, Sony has announced. No price point for the game was revealed, though similar offerings have run $10.

GTA: San Andreas was rated for the PS3 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board in October, suggesting the game was to be rereleased on Sony's new platform.

The 2004 PlayStation 2 game is not the first GTA title to arrive for the PS3. It follows Grand Theft Auto III, which came to the PS3 in late September this year. Additionally, it may not be the last, as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was also rated (then rerated) for the PS3.

It's $14.99 on PSN. I believe it's the same on X360(1200 points).

Console gamer logic:

>Claims PC gaming is too expensive.

>Forced to repurchase old-games for every new platform.

So nothing special about this, it's just a copy and paste kind of deal? No remake or added trophies... well for $10 I still might get it considering I don't have my PS2 anymore.

I'm a big Sony fan but it's really disappointing to see them cut backwards compatibility out of the ps3 and then start reselling ps2 games as digital downloads on the playstation store. I'm sure there are plenty of ps3 owners that still have San Andreas on a ps2 disc but will be forced into buying it again in order to play it on their ps3. A very unethical cash grab. The whole backwards compatibility issue was handled very poorly by Sony this gen. Hopefully it's not a problem with ps4.

Might have considered buying except I got it during the Steam sale a couple weeks ago, so I can play it in higher-res with mods. A real PS3 or 360 port with HD graphics and Trophies/Achievements would be nice though, since GTA is the type of game I prefer to play relaxed on a couch, not hunched in front of a monitor.

Well, breaking their promise and cutting PS2 BC is definitely paying off.

Weird that this came before vice city but cool for people waiting for this! Still have my original copies, so I'll save the harddrive space thanks!

this game is the only reason left why I still have my ps2 hooked up and if it is for $10 might just have to buy it so I can put my ps2 away btw I still play this game every once in a while it may not look as good has gta4 but it is a MUCH better game

Good news that a demanding game like this is going to run on the current PS2 emulator.

Backwards compatibility was taken out so games like this could be sold.

I would have wanted an HD collection and not the same port. Sadly it won't happen. It was playable but still needed improvements. What a shame.

It seems that someone never heard of GTA 4 or GTA 5.

Worst game in the series, no HD? Who would waste their money on this? Not me!

If they redid it in HD or at least added trophies then I'll get it, if not then i wont buy it.

If it has been remastered it might be worth a try but I'm sure it was just ported.  I'm a big GTA fan and I hold GTASA in great esteem, at its time I thought of it as ground breaking, it did exactly what Far Cry 3 does today, give you a high quality, big, interesting world with tons of things to do, so I'll skip this and stay busy with FC3.

I have the PC version via Steam. It's pretty damn good and has very modest hardware requirements (1GHz CPU, 64MB graphics card, 256MB RAM). Also, GTA SA's controls automap to most gamepads.

PS3 and Vita owners are in for a real treat with this game. If you missed it on PS2, this is a must grab.

Im not sure if i want this since i have it the disc for xbox. But man this is the original and the original holds so much more memories.

I'll only purchase it if it comes out as an on-disc collection with all 3 games, like the God of War Collection, Sly Collection, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Tomb Raider Trilogy, etc. before it.

Hmm so this is not a GTA: San Andreas huh? Well I'll pass on this and besides, I still have my original copy from day one and I can play that game anytime on my PS3.

Surprising it took them this long, might as well release them all before GTA V.
