The latest title in Konami's Gradius franchise, Gradius V, shipped to retailers today exclusively for the PlayStation 2. The T-for-teen-rated game will sell for $29.99.
"Fans of the Gradius series have been clamoring for the release of a new game in the hit shooter video game franchise since the last version shipped," said Dennis Lee, product manager at Konami Digital Entertainment America.
New features in Gradius V include a cooperative two-player mode, new weapons, and an Internet ranking system. The new title comes to gamers with a new look as well--read GameSpot's review for more information.
In conjunction with the game's release, Konami is hosting a national high-score competition online. The competition runs from September 17 to October 1, with prizes ranging from Gradius memorabilia to an exclusive Gradius V Breakdown Director's Cut DVD.
