Godzilla movie tie-in game released -- Here's what it looks like

Warner Bros. launches "Godzilla: Strike Zone" for iOS and Android as a free download.

The upcoming Godzilla movie reboot doesn't come to theaters until next Friday, but you can play a tie-in game for the reboot of the classic sci-fi film franchise today on iOS and Android.

You begin Godzilla: Strike Zone by air-dropping into a devastated San Francisco. You must then perform rescue missions to save survivors "before it's too late." Sound interesting? The game, developed by Warner Bros., is available for free today from iTunes and Google Play.

Godzilla the movie was directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters) and stars Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston. It opens in theaters on May 16.

This article reads more like a press release than actual news item. It be nice to know a little bit more about the game (free to play, pay to play, etc), and some general goals to see if it is worth my time.

SMDFH this never ends well but for some strange reason the recent king kong game tie-in turned out to be way more fan that it actually was so fingers crossed this have the same fate

I loved watching Godzilla shows when I was a kid, and I mean the original Japanese Godzilla shows, not the American cartoon Godzilla. Was really disappointed when the first US Godzilla movie came out since it wasnt the Godzilla I knew, this Godzilla I'm looking forward to, but this game, all I have to say is I wont be playing it

Tried it, the game suks, you have to use accelerometer on the first stage, i hate that gimmick on games. Thumbzilla is better.

New Godzilla game? Colour me intrigued.
It's on mobile? All hope of anything remotely decent lost.

Today ladies and gentlemen, I take my hat off to mobile gaming: Thank you very much for taking this movie-game. Please take them all so that us console and PC users are never plagued with them *ever* again.

You think the game is bad? Have you seen the commercials for the movie?  the give the impression that Godzilla is going to be sneaking around the city destroying half of it without anybody knowing whats causing it.

R4gn4r0k

And I thought us console and PC gamers had it bad when it came to movie tie-ins.

Mobile gamers have it even way worse...

@freedom01 When that movie came out I was 11, so I loved it. But I bought it on Bluray a few months ago to give it another watch now that I'm older, and boy is it an awful movie.

@DarkJedi8_basic Bad movie games have been around pretty much since the dawn of gaming. It's not like it's a recent development.

@mr_nee @R4gn4r0kI better hope its a person that games on a laptop......he's mobile and he's a gamer......thats the only kind of mobile gamer I can think of xD Games of android? yeah, crap and games are two differnt things

DarkJedi8_basic

@mr_nee @DarkJedi8_basic The ones tied directly to the movies are average at best...and I am a Star Wars Nerd, so Im being polite.  The ones based off of the Expanded Universe are great.  KotOR, X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, Jedi Knight all have nothing to do with the movies, save for the opening crawl.
