A new lineup of family-friendly minigames under the Go Play brand will launch next week with Go Play Lumberjack and Go Play Circus Star for the Nintendo Wii. We met up with Majesco at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to see what kind of lineup they had for the year and got our first look at Go Play City Sports, a minigame collection aimed at the entire family.

Who's Making This Game: The developer for Go Play City Sports is Digital Embryo, which is responsible for the Cake Mania games on the Nintendo DS. Majesco is the publisher.

What The Game Looks Like: Go Play City Sports has a cartoony aesthetic, but with crooked lines and patched-up environments to give it that "urban" look. Everything is a little exaggerated, but in a good way. The art style is very appealing, especially for a younger audience.

What There Is To Do: There are a total of six minigames, including soccer, kickball, stickball, street hockey, jump rope, and handball.

How The Game Is Played: Most of the games are played with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, but soccer can be played with the Wii Balance Board. We saw only the stickball game, where you're playing in an alley, swinging baseballs onto the sides of buildings. The environment does impact your game, like it would if you were actually playing in the city. Jump rope is supposed to be a rhythm game, and soccer involves obstacle courses. Go Play City Sports is meant to be easy to play, so everything is fairly simple, and the instructions at the beginning of the game are easy to follow. All games support up to four players, and you can customize your own characters.

What They Say: This collection of classic street games provides a fun, casual sports experience for the whole family.

What We Say: Six minigames doesn't seem like a lot for a minigame compilation. The game is set to be priced at $29.99. From what we've seen, the games do look like fun and seem like a good way for parents to play with their kids. It will depend on how much you want to play street hockey indoors. At least this way you don’t risk breaking any windows, as long as you have your Wii safety strap on. Go Play City Sports arrives this fall.
