Ghosts 'n Goblins, GTI Club arrive on PSN

Sony online store adds Capcom's Ultimate PSP take on Arthurian platformer, Konami's PS3 update to arcade racer, and Creat's Arkanoid riff Magic Ball.

Everything old is new again on the PlayStation Network this week, as vintage gameplay gets a new coat of paint with three just-arrived downloadable releases.

Arthur's jumping animation is as distinctive as his boxers.

Kicking things off is Capcom's announcement that the PlayStation Portable action game Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins is being added to PSN, with a price tag of $19.99. Originally released in 2006, the game retains much of the side-scrolling gameplay of the 2D arcade series but renders the world of overmatched knight Arthur with completely new 3D graphics. For more, check out GameSpot's original review of Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins.

The mean machines of GTI Club Plus.

Gamers eagerly awaiting Sumo Digital's revamp of OutRun might be able to tide themselves over with another of the developer's arcade redux racers. Konami confirmed that the Sumo Digital-developed GTI Club Plus for the PlayStation 3 will go live in North America today. Already released in Europe, the racer pits hatchbacks like the Mini Cooper and Volkswagen Golf against one another through winding courses in the French mountainside. GameSpot's hands-on preview of GTI Club Plus has more.

Finally, Creat Studios and Tik Games follow up their recent PSN release Cuboid with Magic Ball for the PS3. Taking a number of cues from the Arkanoid/Breakout arcade games, Magic Ball replaces the standard bricks with an array of knight- and pirate-themed accoutrements. Busting these objects in each level will yield power-ups that can be used to further the player's destructive capabilities. Magic Ball will sell for $9.99.

wonder how much longer before users realize that news is not filtered on this site. You see the top 5 news stories no matter which console section you're in.

Magic Ball is very fun if you like Arkanoid/Breakout games. Worth 10 bucks (my girl will love it). GTI Club Plus looks great. But yeah, 20 bucks for Ghosts and Goblins?? Sorry.

"... a price tag of $19.99" for Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins?! That's exactly $ 10 too much.

GTI Club, definitely purchasing asap! Magic Ball sounds interesting too. Ghost n Goblins is too expensive for me.

I agree with most peoples comments about 20 bucks being a bit much.

Doesn't SFII HD cost $20 too? I mean, I'm all for bringing back classics, but I thought Castlevania:SotN at $10 was pricey. Only games I'd love to see them bring back to the US PSN Store that I'd pay $10-20 for are like Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy VII, Enhiender, Tomba, maybe Ape Escape and stuff like that.

I always thought it was strange that Arthur was chilling out with his woman...having a picnic with her...in his boxers...in a graveyard.

I can get Ghost N Goblins at my local Best Buy for $9.99 for the PSP. Not seeing the deal. And I love my PSP and PS3.

Remakes are ok and all, but $20? You got to be kidding me. And SOMEONE will buy it, and they know that. Don't forget, ye self absorbed developers, that new games should be made too.

Todays trend? Buy the same game 100 times. One trend XBL Marketplace got wrong...

20 bucks? man i really could like to play this game, but i will never pay $20 for it... $5 or even $10 could be great, but not $20.

FAIL, I'd rather spend 20 dollars on a new creative game than this. Hint to developers, stop putting out remakes. LAME. If you are going to do a remake...how about marble madness, paperboy, or mike tyson's punchout? Now if this was 4.99 I'd buy it in a cocaine heartbeat. Todd FTW

@ capt doom i'm sure that capcom gave sony a price to go off of, but i'm guessing that sony has the final say over the pricing of dlc on their network. regardless, it's just to expensive.

This sucks. I just sold my PS3 about a month ago. Now they release something like GTi Club on PSN. :( I own a GTi and I would have loved to play this game. Curse you Sony! *shakes fist* lol I'll probably buy another PS3 later this year, when Uncharted 2 hits.

...Sony doesn't make the price (that would be Capcom) but I agree that 20$ is ridiculous for a game that has literally came out three times.

$19.99 for ultimate ghosts n' goblins is a bit too much. $9.99 would have pushed the download. sorry sony, but "fail"!
