Ghost In The Shell Movie's Amazing Visuals Detailed In New Video

The retro-futuristic world of the classic anime film Ghost in the Shell is hugely distinctive, and the upcoming live-action adaptation looks equally impressive. A new featurette reveals the work that went on behind-the-scenes to create the movie's eye-popping visual style. Check it out below:

In a recent interview with Indiewire, star Scarlett Johansson discussed the movie's visual design. "Rupert [Sanders, director] described the film to me as cities built on cities and the abundance of waste," she said. "It's a kind of collage of cultures and it's sort of identity-less. [There's] a whole melange of different kinds of textures and colors--it's really rich. The depth of this movie is amazing. I find that the sets are so incredibly detailed."

This latest featurette follows another released earlier this week, which focused upon the movie's heavily armed cyber cops Section 9. We've also recently had the first clip, some cool motion character posters, and this trailer.

Ghost in the Shell was one of the key anime films to break through to a western audience in the '90s. It was based on Masamune Shirow's manga, and was followed by three more movies, plus a number of video games.

The movie also stars Pilou Asbæk, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, and Michael Pitt. It hits theaters on March 30.
