Get The Witcher 2 for $4 on Steam

Fall in love with Valentine's Day deals on the original Witcher and its sequel.

As part of a special Valentine's Day sales promotion, you can pick up CD Projekt Red's original The Witcher: Enhanced Director's Cut role-playing game for $2 and its critically acclaimed sequel The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for $4.

Both games are 80 percent off on Steam starting today and running through February 18. You can even try before you buy, as both games are free to play today through Sunday at 1 p.m. The entire Witcher series has sold more than 6 million copies to date, and this sale will no doubt help that figure climb even higher.

If you need to catch up on the Geralt of Rivia story before this year's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, now would seem to be a good time to do so. That game launches this fall for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Can anybody please PM me a Witcher 2 code? I can trade u a Diablo 3 expansion beta code (apparently u can play most of the game except the final boss and u can save your character). I have no use for it since I don't own D3.

I'd get it myself but I don't have a credit card (long depressing story). Please, it's just 4$.

Ah Geralt, killing monsters, and shoving his willy into every girl he meets along the way - Great way to live.

I've had The Witcher 2 since the summer (got it for about £4 back then), but I've still not found the time to get into it. I remember going through all the tutorial stuff when I first downloaded it, and it just threw a fuck-ton of new information at me and I was in no mood to try and remember all of it - so it's sat untouched since then.

i have a question about porting saves

lets say you played on a PC then you bought a better PC, can you store the savefiles on steam or on a USB?

cause lets face it, when the Witcher 3 comes it's going to melt some PC's and you're obviously gonna forced to buy new gear to run it on high settings

I just hope the Witcher 3 quality doesn't get dragged down by the consoles.

This game is well worth beyond 4 dollars and a total steal at that price point. For anyone on the ropes definitely pick these games up. Witcher 2 has full controller support if anyone has issues and plays and looks fantastic.

I'll probably buy The Witcher 1 so that I can import my decisions across the three games. Too bad that I've still got to upgrade to a souped up PC for Assassins of Kings and the upcoming Wild Hunt though...

If I buy this, will I be able to play it with a dualshock 4? I suck with keyboard and mouse and I hate it

I already bought these off GOG some time ago, but was tempted to buy them again at these insanely low prices. If your reading this and don't have these games, what the f**k is wrong with you, buy them NOW.

For everyone enjoying the combat and exploration in Witcher, Dragon's Dogma is a really good game too while waiting for Witcher 3. Lame story but great gameplay, great world, great combat system. The boss battles are incredible.

If you liked the 2nd Witcher, Should definitely check out the first one.  Combat is quite different though.

The first one is also on sale. Apparently in the Witcher 3, Geralt is going to revisit some areas like Vizima and the Swamp so it’s worth checking this one as well.

@quickshooterMk2 I am already preparing! Currently running Intel 3.8 Quad Core Watercooled by EKWB 360 kit and overclocked to 4.75 Ghz, Asrock X79 Exteme4-m board with 16 GB Ripjaws RAM, Dual XFX R9 290x's with 128 GB SSD and powered by Thermaltake 850w power supply, inside of a CM Stormtroop Case. Next week that configuration changes drastically to ASUS Extreme IV Black edition with same CPU and 32GB Ripjaw Ram, 2 more XFX R9 290X's, each with EKWB Waterblocks, and a second 850w Thermaltake power supply, complete with EKWB Waterblocks for memory and board, all housed instide the monster of a case...CaseLabs TH10. Boom. Just need a tri monitor setup to complete it after that.

@quickshooterMk2 I have GOG version of the game and it reads the saves from documents > The Witcher folder . I can copy paste in any HDD I want and Witcher 2 picks it up fine .

@quickshooterMk2 I've heard that when you buy the witcher games from Steam, you can get a free back-up copy from GoG, enabling you to launch through Steam or DRM-free directly from your harddrive. That's an offer on CD Projekt's part (they operate GoG) that Valve doesn't need to follow. Steam achievements, or any achievements for that matter, are little more than useless digital trinkets only worth what you think they're worth.

@egger7577 I've now played Witcher 2 for a bit more than 2 hours for the first time and have to say that I liked the beginning of Witcher 1 better. Not that I didn't enjoy it (it's not "number 2" if you get my toilet reference), but there were so many cutscenes and scripted events that I felt as disillusioned as Geralt when playing it. So this is the grand sequel, eh? Enhanced Edition, no less? Doesn't really show.

Well, considering I've spent 300 hours in Witcher 1 and less than 1% of that time in Witcher 2, I'll probably change my opinion once I get more familiar with the sequel. For better or worse, Witcher 2 feels completely different than Witcher 1.

canuckbiker

I also suck at mouse and keyboard, but these games play so much better that way. Theirs just too much going on for a controller to be efficient, and I also played the 360 version before I bought it on PC.

Penguinlord1

@Pilgrim117 Absolutely loved Dragon's Dogma by the time I was finished with it. Wish it would come to PC though, both the frame rate, and graphics where a little underwhelming on console to say the least.

@Acillatem1993  I paid Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition for 7$ not too long ago. Not too shabby. As for the Witcher 2, its a fantastic RPG. To each his own I guess.

If you consider this game bad, I don't even want to know what you would consider good.

@Acillatem1993 I don't know what kind of games you classify as "good", but I see good games on sale almost all the time. I actually think they're having sales too often.

@Gegglington Lol, Pilgrim117 has the answer for ya. I've an acquintance who really loves that game, so I reckon it's pretty good, but that all depends on personal taste.

@canuckbiker  First one was set for the keyboard and mouse.  Second definitely works better with my 360 controller.

ScreamDream

@spartanx169x @Gegglington I've used Xpadder on Win 7. It was a mess, probably spent 3-4 hours configuring it and tweaking it. Got it working but ended up using Keyboard/mouse afterwords lol. It didn't strafe like I wanted to or I forgot the move that wasn't decent.

canuckbiker

It's fine if it's not your cup of tea. Doesn't make the game bad. I don't enjoy Zelda, halo, gears of war games, but I consider them good.
