Get Another Free Mythical Pokemon Starting Today

It's the first of the month, and that means more than just oft-bad jokes: Now is the time to get your hands on a free Mythical Pokemon.

As with the past two months, one Mythical Pokemon--in April's case, Jirachi--will be given away for free for use in Pokemon X/Y or Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. You won't need to go to GameStop to get a code for this one; instead, Jirachi is being distributed through the Nintendo Network, meaning you can grab one right from your 3DS from now through April 24.

More detailed instructions can be seen on the official Pokemon website (just scroll down the page here to see them), but the process is fairly simple. Boot up the game of your choice, select the Receive Gift option, and then choose to get it through the Internet. This will then connect you to the online servers and allow you to claim your Jirachi, which can then be obtained at any Pokemon Center in-game.

This promotion is a part of the franchise's 20-year anniversary celebration. A free Mythical Pokemon is being given away each month through the end of the year. Those still to come include Darkrai (May), Arceus (August), and Keldeo (October). You can see the full list here.
