Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel are in talks to star in the upcoming Kane & Lynch movie, according to a new report from the Hollywood Reporter. Butler is reportedly in discussions to play Kane, while an offer has gone out to Diesel to play Lynch, though his appearance in the film is described as far from a done deal.

The site also reports that The Italian Job director F. Gary Gray is on board to direct the Kane & Lynch movie. Gray and Butler previously worked together on 2009's Law Abiding Citizen. Gray also has a history with Diesel, working together for 2003's A Man Apart.

The Kane & Lynch movie has been a long time coming, in the works since 2007. Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were previously considered for the lead roles, with Titanic stunt coordinator Simon Crane attached to direct.

Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team) and Kyle Ward (Machete Kills) wrote the most recent version of the Kane & Lynch film script. No release date has been set for the film.

The original Kane & Lynch game, developed by IO Interactive and released in 2007, follows death row inmates Kane and Lynch, who are sprung from prison only to be spun into a wide-ranging tale of revenge.
