Genki has opened the official site to its upcoming 3D action game Fuun Bakumatsuden. The game is the sequel to Fuun Shinsengumi, which was released for the PlayStation 2 by the company in January.

The original game was set in the late Edo period, a time when foreign influence was becoming strong to the detriment of the Japanese government. Players took control of the Shinsengumi squad to secure the nation's capital from samurais that were fighting for a revolution. Fuun Bakumatsuden is set in the same period and uses the same game system as Fuun Shinsengumi, except this time players take the role of the rebelling samurais. The game will cover a number of historical events that weren't in the previous installment and will recast the original's events. Unlike the action in Fuun Shinsengumi, which took place only in Kyoto, the action in Fuun Bakumatsuden will cover various regions of Japan.

Fuun Bakumatsuden is scheduled for release for the PS2 in winter 2004, at the retail price of 7,140 yen ($65).
