GameStop now offering Beyond: Two Souls beta keys

Retailer giving away beta keys for upcoming PlayStation 3 game ahead of open beta launch on October 1.

by

The Beyond: Two Souls beta will be open to all on October 1, but gamers don't have to wait that long to try out the new game from Quantic Dream.

Retailer GameStop is currently offering beta keys for the PlayStation 3 game through a special promotion on its Facebook page. Supply is said to be limited.

Beyond: Two Souls launches October 8. It features Hollywood talent in the form of Oscar-nominated actress Ellen Page (Inception, Juno), as well as Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, The Boondock Saints) and Kadeem Hardison (A Different World).

The game reportedly cost $27 million to produce. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

i 'm warning everyone a gamer who tried the demo using the beta key i got from gamestop's facebook page.. to avoid this piece of frustrating crap like it's the black plague. it's one of the most frustrating things i've ever played.. I almost broke my controller and had to quit the demo before it was over. it seems like Quantum dream made a great looking CGI film and decided to put in some quick time events at the lat second so they could call it a game.. but it's not a game it has no right calling it'self a game.. it's a movie with some QTE thrown in. They clearly had no idea how to make a actual game though.. you barely knew what you suppose to do, where you were suppose to go, when to hit what button.. the interactive movie that is Beyond 2 souls is a festering piece of buffalo shit.. it may be cover in gold, but it's still shit. avoid the demo and the full interactive movie that's pretending to be a game when it comes out. save your money for a real game instead. a game that s actually fun

from the looks of thing I might not buy a PS 4 this year because I'm not yet done with my PS 3 and now BEYOND is around the corner but on the other the

PS 4 + CHRISTMAS = THE ULTIMATE HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE

man I'm so confused.

I hope they are working to port it to PS4 already. It came so late, it wouldn't be fair.

Not sure how limited the keys are, but whatever, got mine now time to get a sample of what this game is all about (I hope I don't get hooked, trying not to buy any games until the PS4 comes out)

I played about 2 hours worth of the retail version with somebody from Sony, and it was not nearly as fun as Heavy Rain. The voice-work and graphics are better in BTS, and it has some cool "Mission: Impossible" moments, but it feels so much more linear than HR that it doesn't appeal to me, really. If I'm playing a QTE game, I want a ton of different outcomes and choices. Granted, there's a lot more left to see, but still...

Why does this game need an open beta....?

Not actually a beta release. Its a demo. But whatevs.

EBGames Australia emailed customers about this on September 20 with a different link. I entered (didn't have to use Facebook); it told me I would get a code on the 25th, if successful. Fingers crossed.

I really enjoyed what I've experienced in the demo and am really looking forward to the retail release.

GameSpot says "Beta".  Facebook says "Early Demo Access", which is coming to everyone on October 1.

@thekazumalord I'm not sure what you're crying about. The game flat out told you where to go and which buttons to press in pretty much every situation. If you're trying to convince someone to avoid a game, at least know what it is you're talking about.

@thekazumalord I have played the demo and i loved it !  I bet you are a COD, BF player and so Am I but give other games a chance.  If you have played heavy rain you know what you will get by playing this game.  So chill-out dude

@Thanatos2k that is a good question. Usually open betas are for multiplayer dominant games

@kingcrimson24 I don't know about "better" but it certainly seems to have some emotional heft to it, just like The Last of Us

@Yodake @thekazumalord I have to say, this is no where near as cool as Heavy Rain.  Which I loved.  I'm so disappointed by this game, so far, after play8ing the demo.  I'm really upset, because I'm a huge fan of David Cage and Quanitic Dream.

thekazumalord
thekazumalord

@Yodake @thekazumalord hardly..  i hate the call of duty series and i only played the first battlefield bad company. heavy rain was terrible and boring interactive film too( i refused to call either one a game) , but at least the buttons responed properly.

@mr_nee @Thanatos2k It's a demo. But for some reason Eddie Makuch, News Editor at GameSpot is calling it a beta.

@Yodake @thekazumalord no.. saints row 2 and 3.. Max Payne 3, DC Universe Online, Infamous, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Arena, Dishonored, the Tomb Raider reboot, Batman Arkham Asylum/ Arkham City ...the Naruto :Ultimate Ninja Storm games. God of war series.. things like that .. good games that are fun

@thekazumalord @Axile11

You don't need to play it if you don't like it. Sure, it could do with a bit more "game" in there but Heavy Rain sold three million copies so there's definitely an audience for this kind of thing.

Personally I like how Quantic Dream are trying something different with their games.

@DarthJoe77 @sizons you have to use a us account, since theese gamestop codes are meant to be for US people.

@pkosior Not even close to better than the last of us.  And it really pains me to say that, because I loved Heavy TRain.
