GameStop is really trying to sell Call of Duty: Ghosts

Starting tomorrow, retailer will offer the Xbox One/PS4 version for $40 and Xbox 360/PS3 for $30; plus, you can earn extra 30 percent trade-in bonus with a new coupon.

GameStop is really trying to move copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts. The retailer today announced a special sales and trade promotion focused around Infinity Ward's latest entry in the blockbuster shooter franchise.

Starting today and running through April 6, all U.S. GameStop stores will offer new copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One/PlayStation 4 for $40. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 versions will go for $30. (GameStop didn't announce a price drop for the Wii U version; it sells for $50). These prices are slightly below Amazon's, but GameStop is also offering some additional bonuses if you shop with them.

The first 10 customers at GameStop stores across the US tomorrow who buy Call of Duty: Ghosts or the game's $50 Season Pass will receive a special paracord bracelet for free. Finally, GameStop announced today that customers who bring in a special coupon (below) will receive an extra 30 percent in-store credit for any items traded in towards the purchase of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Call of Duty: Ghosts launched last year and was the second best-selling game of 2013 in the United States, behind only Rockstar Games' open-world title Grand Theft Auto V. This year's entry in the Call of Duty series, described as "ambitious" and "creative," is in development at Sledgehammer Games, which co-developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward.

For me the game looks fantastic on PC but run like it was crysis 4, the sp was perfect for me, but the mp is an slap to the face to pc gamers no fov never show ping alot of hackers lag every 10 seconds, but like always ACTIVISION do what the want because there is alot of assholes that will always preorder or pay 60 bucks for something that they say that they never will buy it again and still open his asses to this fps that for me died since black ops 1, i have BO2 and i like it very much feel sorry only to see ps3 and 360 servers like 100.000 people and in pc 10.000, i do alot of scrim with friends and that meke me love the game but when i start playing alone this game only find people in ffa or tdm, the only flaws was it need more weapons and better match making options, still for me the best cod is mw2 because of the sp was fantastic and the mp play well was balance, but i really want to buy cod ghost i tested in steam in a free weekend and the game is SHIT still bf4 is Shit too i buy titanfall and its good but is full of hype there is something i dont like if titanfall and is that the game can be for competitive tournaments or scrims like cod so i will go for the 100% teste CS that is the only shooter in pc with 100.000 people online

AND PLEASE ASSHOLES NEVER BUY A GAME THAT U HAVENT TESTED, if not activision will still slap u every year it is ur money it is ur choice dont be a fool.

Ghosts is awful, probably the worst game in the series and one of the worst shooters I've ever played.

It makes Modern Warfare 3 look like a masterpiece, and MW3 is piece of shit.

Seems Treyarch are doing a better job with the series, but the netcode in their games always felt off compared to Infinity Ward/Infinity Ward In Name Only and Sledgehammer.

wait so there is new cod game coming out this year?i tho they say the raise the gap to 2 to 3yr and if they are what version is it Treyarch or Infinity Ward i mean shit i want some fucking zombies aliens are stupid and out of date and not popular at all

I thought that the game would sell itself? Hell BF4 is so broken still but it now is starting to drag in the CoD kids now. I guess people got tired of their crappy poster they got for preordering.

I said I wasn't going to buy another C.O.D game after Modern Warfare 2 when most of the original Infinity Ward people left to form Respawn and I did it. No going back now, they can keep it. Got Titanfall now.

Tell you what Gamestop. Give us a free dog with every copy of COD Ghosts and we're in.

It's good to see people are finally getting hip to this game of forcing sub par COD games down our throats every year. The series died after MW2. Now it's just Madden/FIFA/NBA Live: the shooter edition every year.

Yeah, trying to get as many copies of it sold before the "new" one is announced next month.

Call of Duty is great fun.  Not worth $60 as I don't play multiplayer and the campaign is only 4 hrs long so I always buy then used for $20 or less.

Earlier than usual. I hope this doesn't mean twice a year installments of CoD.

I made the mistake of buying this game with my friends. Ghost was terrible, I *enjoyed* the previous few installments, but this game went right into the abyss drawer.

Good, I'm glad to see that they have crammed COD down or throats over and over and very soon it will finally be over.

AwkwardTurtle42

For other games this might have been a good deal. Not really in this case though. Ghosts will be out of date when Call of Duty 2014 is released just later this year. They probably want to clear it out a bit before then since the value will drop by that time. Just like how you see old copies of FIFA 08 in the pre-owned sections for 50p that no one buys because there's no point.

Not sure if GameStop really desperate to sell copies of COD: Ghosts...

... or Activision really desperate to get stores to sell copies of COD: Ghosts.

The fact that Gamestop is the only place that does not price match big retailers is stupid.  Any smart shopper knows this game has been $30 ~ $40 since November 30th.  Next year the sales for this game will be scary low.  Until Blops 3.

Ghost sucks (MP) i gave that game a chance twice, no thanks.  Enjoyed Extinction! but the player on player action sucks,  there is something off about that game.  My theory

1.  Speed

2.  Rate of Death

3.  Too serious (More Mike Myers and Predator DLC)  Being a normal soldier dying at the same fire rate is boring.

4.  Accuracy recoil

5.  I figured out why people camp,  They don't like dying at a high rate.  Add a cover system and map intelligence.

6.  Can I have some real protection against bullets.

"Sounds like you suck at the game"

'I don't care about being good i play to have fun the thing COD MP is lacking.  Particularly Ghost.

K\D who cares.

I strongly advise people to never shop at GameStop again.

Two weeks ago I sold my old PS3 to a friend of mine, who works at GameStop.

It turns out this was a fireable offense, GameStop employees are not allowed to buy consoles anywhere but GameStop.

My friend got written up because buying my PS3 was "undercutting sales"

@bakasora  The train has been slowing since MW 3, this is a drift coming to a stop.

C-THREE

@angelofbeast198 it's Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and Slegdehammer games making a C.O.D game every 3 years. But they have it laid out where a C.O.D game is released every year by each one (example Sledgehammer gets 2014, Treyarch gets 2015, and Infinity Ward gets 2016) . Too much in my opinion.

mysophocles

@C-THREE  I stopped at MW2...Glad I'm not the only one who thought that it was crap. After the awesomeness of MW, MW2 was a huge let down. How long was that campaign? Four hours? That's bullsh#t! I'm a PC gamer, and I've been on the train since the original Call of Duty(2003).

@RicanV  There are 3 Developers working on CoD now. Let's just hope that extra year will be enough to give us more unique entries than we've been seeing lately.

spectreSE7EN

@ItsBriskBaby  It will never be over.  They won't stop making these "just add water" shooters until people stop buying it..COD has become the Madden of the FPS genre...same old thing with new box art and new maps.

It's Activision. Just go look at their stocks and sales numbers of Ghosts compared to MW3 sales, significant drop.

@PixelAddict Rumor has it, it is a terrible multiplayer game that was hated by the masses and was ousted. Some say, if you find this game and play it...you can hear the sound of a thousand whiney children and people who sit still as hard as a petrified statue.

@longflopper @Thanatos2k

It will -- if idiots stop buying it. And little tykes parents, for that matter. Can't forget all those pre-teens griefing the sh#t out of everyone. We should really hope the makers try to pull off something so absurd congress shuts down Activision. Oh wait, we've already had you participating in an act of terrorism, that resulted in the mass murder of innocent civilians...........What would be worse that that...... Let me think......
I got it!

You got this man, and he's smoking crack -- while f@cking a baby. That sounds like it would do it.

By the way, that was a joke. I'm not in any way promoting the rape of children.

Spartan_418
Spartan_418

@Dissentioncc Evidently it's not bullshit since it happened.

I don't think it's simply because he bought a console somewhere else, it was because otherwise I might have traded that PS3 in to GameStop so they could resell it at double its trade-in value. They lost an opportunity to resell a used console.

Spartan_418
Spartan_418

@West123 probably because he suddenly started trying to rent out PS3 games from his store, and his manager asked him where his PS3 came from

mysophocles

@Spartan_418 @PixelAddict

I try not to ever shop at Gamestop, if at all possible. Look at their used game prices.

I go into the store and buy a new game, beat it; then trade it in the same week. They might give $25 for the game I just payed $60 for. Then, they turn around and sell it for $5 off full retail price. FIVE DOLLARS OFF!!! That's crap.

Spartan_418
Spartan_418

@PixelAddict Should have clarified that my friend didn't get fired, just written up, I guess because his boss is lenient and he didn't know about the rule beforehand.

When his GameStop district manager stopped by his store, he was told "Undercutting sales like that shows a startling lack of commitment to this company and its future".

Keep in mind that I don't work at GameStop and there could be details that I'm unaware of

It's possible that "not buying consoles anywhere else" is part of a contract that GS employees sign, or something

PixelAddict
PixelAddict

@Spartan_418 @Dissentioncc  I agree with Dissentioncc. Fire me and I take you to court and sue for wrongful termination.

And I tell that crazy chick who tried to get Colbert fired, too. Twitter will be ablaze with hate.

PixelAddict

@Spartan_418 @West123  Easy, your friend should have said "got it as a gift."

Done. A business can't tell you where to get something, and they certainly can't police your friends or relatives from GIVING you something.
