GameStop announces PS3-to-PS4 upgrade offer for MLB 14: The Show

If you're a PowerUp Rewards member, you can trade in your PS3 copy and get the PS4 version for $20.

GameStop today announced a special PlayStation 3-to-PlayStation 4 upgrade offer for Sony's Major League Baseball game MLB 14: The Show. If you're a PowerUp Rewards member, you can get the PS4 version for $20 when you trade in the PS3 version, provided it was purchased at GameStop.

A membership to GameStop's PowerUp Rewards program is free. Sony has not announced any kind of upgrade offer for MLB 14: The Show to date.

The PS3 and PlayStation Vita versions of MLB 14: The Show are available today (that's no April Fool's joke), while the PS4 iteration launches on May 6. If you had an exsiting preorder for the PS3, PS Vita, and PS4 versions of the game, you'll receive $20 worth of in-game currency for MLB 14: The Show.

In addition, GameStop is holding a special trade-in promotion surrounding MLB 14: The Show. Any trades (games, consoles, smartphones, tablets, accessories) applied to the purchase of MLB 14: The Show will receive a 30 percent in-store credit bonus. PowerUp Rewards Pro members ($15/year) will earn 10 percent more, for a total of 40 percent extra credit.

Finally, GameStop is launching an "MLB Mondays" promotion through its website where it will host new information, trailers, and gameplay videos for MLB 14: The Show every Monday leading up to the PS4 release on May 6. You can check out the landing page on GameStop's website for more.

MLB 14: The Show is not the only professional baseball game in town this year. Though the MLB 2K series is no more, Major League Baseball itself is working on a new entry in the R.B.I. Baseball series coming later this spring to consoles, PC, and mobile.

This is a bit of a ripoff considering it comes out in a month. Essentially your paying $80 for the ps4 game and gamestop is laughing their way to the bank. People don't be dumb if you want it on ps4 just wait for it.

Here's the real question.... WTF is wrong with Sony that they wouldn't release it for the PS4 1st seeing that is the new system! Sony does s@$t so ass backwards took me a while to finally find a PS4 and now I gotta wait to buy the game? Joke! So the people that dished out the cash for the new system get screwed! I feel like this is all I've gotten so far with the PS4 system guess I'm the moron for not just waiting to but the PS4! Consumer screwed again!!!

to be a powerups reward member its 10 dollars, on top of the 20 for the trade up, so your paying 90 dollars plus tax just to play it now instead of waiting

This is stupid and overly complicated. Just wait and buy the PS4 version. Jesus people. Learn some self control. I will lol at any idiot who does this.

The game cost $59.99 for both systems, so you are paying $79.99, if you trade it in, just to get it to play on the ps4 and more if you count taxes.

People just don't think these days..

MLB 'itself' is making an RBI Baseball game?  Didn't know Commissioner Bud Selig was a game programmer.  We'll stick with 'The Show'.

@ohjtbehaaave  MLB Advanced Media, which is MLB's tech arm (they run MLB.tv, pitch/FX and some other stuff), is making RBI. So it's not technically incorrect to say that "MLB itself" is making the game.

@ohjtbehaaave  rbi isnt meant to contend with real games, its just for revenue because theres no official mlb game.

@teller76567 They're not caring.  They're making $20 off of you.  They're basically letting you trade in MLB 14 (PS3) for $40 1 month after it's release.

@Tigerbite2 @teller76567  On the other hand...if you're planning on buying MLB '14 for PS4 already, it's like you get to 'rent' it for PS3 for 1 month for $20.
