Gamestock 2001: First Look: Project Gotham

Microsoft lets out the first stream of info on Bizarre Creations' upcoming successor to MSR.

Comments

In light of Gamestock, Microsoft has posted information on its Xbox Web site about the tentatively named Project Gotham, Bizarre Creations' upcoming continuation of MSR. Whether the game is a true sequel or a merely an Xbox-enhanced version of the original is yet to be determined. What we do know is that the game will feature 20 licensed cars racing on more than 300 circuits spread throughout four cities: New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and London. Geographical landmarks will help cement the identities of the locations, and radio broadcasts will enhance the aesthetic feel of the environments, all the while playing hit tunes.

Project Gotham will feature MSR's "kudos" system, which rates players on their overall stylistic performance, rather than on their speed alone. The game will also feature a set of dedicated multiplayer modes, which will let up to four players go at it via a split screen. Take a look at the screenshots provided of the game, and stay tuned for hands-on impressions of Project Gotham straight from the show floor later today.
