GameSpot GamePlay Episode 14: Splinter Shell

Host Kevin VanOrd welcomes IGN's Mitch Dyer for an extra dose of crazy. Also present (and also crazy): Tom Mc Shea, Chris Watters, and Peter Brown.

GameSpot GamePlay Episode 14: Splinter Shell

Mitch Dyer from IGN graces us with his politically incorrect presence long enough to explain just what should be done with the TMNT license. He's joined by Peter Brown, who puts the "FIFA" in FIFA; Chris Watters, who closes the episode on the most disturbing note possible; and Tom Mc Shea, who insists on stubbornly breaking the fourth wall.

Kevin VanOrd hosts. Charmingly.

Kumil Nanjiani is the comedian who is from Kirachi and has a joke about how he should know all the places to hide and complained that they do not speak Arabic in pakistan

@Kevin-V It should be mentioned that Jesper Kyd was not the only composer on Chaos Theory. Most of the music you'll hear during CT gameplay was made by Amon Tobin. Kyd was hired to do music for the cinematics and a few shorter tracks (mission failure/success, timer countdown etc.). Not trying to rip on Kyd, he's great, just giving credit where it's due.

Gotta be my favorite episode so far! The Miss Piggy ESRB reading was hysterical! So so good!!

The podcast's ending music really needs to be in Dishonored.

You guys gave a great example of just how profoundly ignorant the gaming press is when you claimed the new DmC plays and feels just like Devil May Cry always did.  It runs at half the frame rate, has much floatier physics, and has no hard lock-on which completely alters how you can play the game.

hey Kevin, Mitch is alright but Ryan McCaffrey from IGN would be amazing at the ESRB quiz section!

that is the most upsetting ending to podcast I have ever witnessed.

C'mon Peter, you can't answer your question WITHIN your question. "I know it's about money, but why do they do this?" is not a question that needs to be followed by an answer.

Splinter Cell Conviction may have taken a slight turn away from the road the first 4 Splinter Cell games were on, but it was very much Splinter Cell game. If Ubisoft were to release Convinction under the guise of a new IP a lot of people would have probably complained about there not being a new Splinter Cell game and others may have bought the new IP because it was like Splinter Cell with more action. By using the Splinter Cell name on a slightly different game Ubisoft was able to get both types of consumers to buy the game and maximize sales.

I just figured out the wiggling of two sticks to get the QTE to go faster yesterday... That's 40 hours into it; yes 40 hours, because I like the game.

DUUUUUDE! Granted they do play a lot of games and have to move on, it's disappointing that they don't know. Alright, I think that's the end of my comments... For now.

Oh, never mind, you did. Ha ha.

Yeah, those were very easy songs. Maybe if you brought out some Freedom Fighters (a fantastic game) they wouldn't know. I wish we could vote, 'cause I would have won! Dammit.

Can't wait for the next podcast, Kevin would die if Assassin's Creed 3 was canceled and Chris Watters has a delicious voice, I just wished he had used it in this podcast

GAH! Someone from IGN!? It was most likely not my doing, but this is something I suggested the other day on another podcast. Awesome :D. I also don't mean I necessarily meant IGN to visit, but they were one I had in mind. Unfortunately I don't know the IGN staff as well as GameSpot, Giantbomb or Gametrailers, but this is cool nonetheless (although I can't say I'm much for the FIFA talk, but I guess I can skip that bit.)

Mitch needs to ditch the lame site and come to a real one.

People are blowing the map fixing in modern warfare way out of proportion. I would be on board with bashing Activision if they put it in their with a purpose to incite a good discussion and then immediately pulled it when people got mad, but this wasn't purposeful at all. They threw an authentic looking picture frame into the game that would have been perfectly okay, if only they didn't put it in a dirty bathroom. It was an oversight.

@Feanor5503 We are so profoundly ignorant! I am glad you are here to set us straight.

@ilantis haha there's nothing wrong with smiling or laughing to yourself (or to your MP3 player), it's better than walking around all weary eyed and depressed like most people seem to be doing!
