Games As Art
The UC Irvine School of the Arts is opening an interactive exhibit called SHIFT-CTRL that will show off artistic games.
The Beall Center for Art and Technology at the University of California Irvine will open an art exhibit on October 17 that features computer games situated in artistic enclosures. The exhibit, called SHIFT-CTRL: Computers, Games and Art, is a cultural examination of computer games and new technologies produced by a group of US and international artists. SHIFT-CTRL encourages visitor participation and includes 13 computer stations running popular games, as well as six large-screen projection rooms featuring original game projects.
You can take a look at some of the 3D images from the exhibit's original games in the gallery above. For dates and directions, take a look at the official SHIFT-CTRL web page and the Beall Center web site.
