GameDay 2002 release date set

The latest game in Sony's football series will arrive early next month.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that NFL GameDay 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 will ship on December 4. According to Sony, the game has been redesigned from the ground up and now features an entirely new game engine with updated graphics and AI. Additionally, along with the usual updated rosters and player stats, the game features all-new commentary from the announcing team of Dick Enberg and Dan Fouts.

"NFL GameDay 2002 is a completely revamped title that promises to be a fully immersive football gaming experience,'' said Kelly Ryan, director of sports product development at Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Following a ground-up redesign that includes a new game engine, the use of revolutionary scanning technology, and multiple player motion-captures, NFL GameDay 2002 is more technologically advanced than ever before.''

GameSpot will have more on NFL GameDay 2002 leading up to its release.
