Activision has announced that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for the Nintendo GameCube will be released this year. Although essentially a port of the PlayStation 2 game, there are a variety of enhancements planned for the GameCube version, particularly in the graphics department. Also new to the GameCube game are extras such as video sequences featuring a variety of skateboarders.

In development at Neversoft Entertainment, the game naturally includes many of the primary features found in the PlayStation 2 version. In the game, players can skate as Tony Hawk, or other pros such as Steve Caballero, Rune Glifberg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, Bam Margera, and Jamie Thomas. Locations featured in the game include popular skate areas in Los Angeles, Canada, and Tokyo that are teeming with AI-controlled traffic and pedestrians.

"We are excited to partner with Nintendo to bring this key franchise to the new platform,'' said Ron Doornink, president and COO of Activision. "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 will be one of the handful of third-party titles available for the Nintendo GameCube this holiday season. The game takes full advantage of the hardware's advanced technological and graphics capabilities to offer Nintendo consumers a revolutionary gaming experience.''

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 will also be released on the PS2, Microsoft Xbox, and Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
